Clay ... thank you for giving me the opportunity to see this article related to Alligator Alcatraz. I visited Canada and the USA in the summers of 1980 and 1981 when I was a student at Cambridge in the UK. I migrated to Canada a few years later in 1967 and a year later I was working for a Canadian company in Texas! These were 'economic' decisions. I was earning more in Canada / USA in 2 months that I could earn in the UK in a year ... and in the UK I was earning about twice the average for my age group!

But ... fast forward, over the past 45 years since Reagan, the USA has experienced a debilitating increase in inequality with the 'top' 15% doing very well and everyone else getting less and less reward for more and more effort. The US political system is dangerously broken and Trump is hell-bent on making it worse. Hopefully ordinary good Americans will recognize this and do something about it sooner rather than later. US economic potential is as good today as it was in the 1960s but huge changes are needed in order for this potential to be realized. Big or small ... Trump changes are mainly wrong and will 'crash' America but a better and very good way forward remains feasible. .......... Best .. PeterB
