MSNBC Host Cracks Up Over Trump Email About Parade: 'Sorry, That's A Funny Sentence'

Trump ‘Hears The People Sing'
MSNBC host Chris Hayes couldn’t contain his laughter on air Friday while reading a fundraising email from President Donald Trump. The email asked for donations for his Saturday military parade, which, as it turns out, most Americans aren’t that eager to fund.
“Donald Trump is holding a North Korean-style military parade, Soviet-style military parade through the nation’s capital, something that we just don’t do as a country,” said Hayes. “The last one we did was after the first Persian Gulf War, which was celebrating the end of a war.”
He continued, “We don’t have that here. It just so happens to fall on his 79th birthday. He’s even fundraising from it, if you could believe it — well, you can, of course — sending out this email with the subject line, quote, ‘Please help me before my military parade!’”
Hayes broke into laughter reading that last line aloud, as a screenshot of the email was displayed onscreen. He quickly composed himself and continued his coverage on the impending Washington, D.C., event.
“I’m sorry, that’s a funny sentence,” said Hayes. “‘My military parade.’”
Trump has never served in the armed forces and reportedly avoided the Vietnam War draft with a diagnosis of bone spurs in his feet. The daughter of the doctor who provided the diagnosis later said he had done so as a favor to his landlord — Trump’s father, Fred Trump.
The parade and surrounding festivities are meant to celebrate the U.S. Army’s 250th anniversary, though the event notably also falls on Trump’s 79th birthday.
It is set to feature nearly 7,000 troops, various ground vehicles and fighter jet flyovers in a display that could cost up to $45 million. It will coincide with expected protests across the country, which retired military officials believe could be a dangerous combination.
“Donald Trump has already promised, quote, ‘very heavy force’ against anyone who would choose to protest his special day,” Hayes said Friday. “He didn’t direct this at rioters or looters or people that broke the law, you know. He said protesters would be met with very heavy force.”
The president issued that warning Tuesday from the Oval Office.

Peter Burgess COMMENTARY My view is that Trump has the core characteristics of a spoilt 3 year old! Today ... June 14th 2025, Trump reaches 79 years old. From what I know about Trump, he is one of the greediest men alive. Clever ... but mainly deployed for wrong reasons. He has been surrounded by enablers all his life and in the process has become financial wealthy. Many of the people who have made this possible have lost everything ... but Trump doesn't care! I became a 'permanent resident' of the United States in the 1960s when I was in my 20s. The United States has been good to me ... but this is not true for a huge population of 'essential workers' who have come to the United States from different parts of the world nad have been exploited in a variety of ways for a very long time. For a very long time, it has been recognised that the US immigration process is 'broken' ... but little of substance has been done over many decades to fix the problems. The inability of the USA to improve the functioning of Government is not by chance, but mainly by design. There is a segment of the US population that 'profits' from the dysfunction of government and politics ... and this group of people have done everything in their power over many decades to maintain this chronic dysfunction! Maybe ... just maybe ... the Trump generated chaos might mobilise Americans to address the core dysfunction of the country. This is not one big thing that needs to be 'fixed', and hundreds of isses that have gone unaddressed for years ... actually decades in many cases! Sadly ... essential changes are not going to happen under Trump leadership. In fac, things I likely to get far worse before they get better. Unfortunately for the United States. the free world outside the United States is organizing itself to protect itself against malevolent Trump initiatives. Many of these actions will be difficult to reverse, and it is likely that the USA will see a dangerous socio-enviro-economic decline for a long time ... not weeks or months but years and generations! Most Americans do not understand that Americans are disliked by people in most of the rest of the world. In my case, as a teenager growing up in the UK, I remember the phrase 'The problem with Americans is that they are overweight, over-sexed and over here'. Non-Americans had to put upwith America and Americans because post WWII they got to dominate the global economy and every free country on the planet has to 'play nice' to the American power sructure ... commercial and political. American domination has diminished significantly during the past decade or more. Much of modern economic analysis goes back to around 1980 and the Ronald Reagan Presidency. For me this is too short a time frame because more global change took place in the 40 years before 1980 than in the 40+ years since 1980. One of the biggest economic events in all of history took place in 1973 when OPEC (the Oranization of Petroleum Exporting Counties) was created and implemented a 'oil boycott' that disrupted the global economy. Prior to this time the international price for a barrel of crude oil was US$3.50. Thanks to OPEC in 1973, this price increased to $13,50 a barrel by the end of the year and then to $30.00 a barrel before flucutating between aroun $40.00 and $100.00 a barrel for the rest of the deecade! Prior to 1973, the United States was a profligate consumer of oil. Most of the world taxed the consumption of oil, but not the United States. Most of the world used oil way more efficently than the USA which was unimportant prior to 1973. After the OPEC driven price increase, much of American industry went into a profit crisis that dramatically changed the structure of industry in the USA. Three Presidents ... Nixon, Ford and Carter ... tried but failed to get the USA 'back on track' and in 1980s Ronald Reagan was elected. Ronald Reagan was a Republican and a good communicator. In my view, many of his policy ideas were wrong and are actually resposible for much of the social and economic malaise that has increasingly infected the United States over the past 40+ years.
