50 years later ... R&O Seafood and OSO Aquaculture

Original article:
Peter Burgess COMMENTARY

This webpage is incomplete ... the objective here is to track the progress of the SOCOTA GROUP from the 1980s to the present time.

I was a 'collaborator' within the SOCOTA initiative to help the organization establish itself as a major participant in the global fisheries sector.

Much of my involvement was in the 1980s and 1990s ... a long time in the past!

You can count on us

Respect for the environment ... At the heart of all our actions

R&O pays particular attention to respecting the environment. We are committed to developing responsible and rigorous management of natural resources, controlled by independent laboratories and audit firms. We mobilize all of our teams on the issue of respecting the environment. We develop numerous actions in coordination with organizations such as IFREMER or CEVPM to reduce our impacts.

Freshness

Excellence signed R&O

Freshness is one of the hallmarks of the excellence of our fish and shellfish. At R&O, everything is done to guarantee it. We implement innovative technical solutions such as factory ships or freezer trawlers.

For example, our Organic OSO ® Gambas from Madagascar enter the packaging process in less than 30 minutes. Our Reynaud ®

Culinary Preparation Laboratory ensures tailor-made preparations, 24 hours a day.

Gastronomic pleasure

A shared success

Gastronomy is a source of curiosity, imagination, diversity and pleasure.

Our ambition is to offer professionals, restaurateurs and gourmets products of excellence that will take it to the top.

R&O offers a very wide range of seafood products, mainly in 'Fresh', meeting all tastes, all meal times and all consumption moments on a daily basis. The company relies on its own sourcing, transit and logistics services in order to satisfy the most demanding markets in terms of responsiveness and freshness.

Beyond this diversity, R&O pays particular attention to a few species considered 'strategic' given their respective weight in our activity.

For these species, R&O develops very special attention...

Prawns, Salmon, Sea Bass, Sea Bream, Albacore Tuna, Scallops and French Oysters are naturally species where the action of the R&O teams is particularly concentrated. They are managed within the framework of a 'managed production' where R&O's commitment can go as far as capitalistic control of production, as is the case for the Madagascar Prawns sector.

R&O's action is also exercised in technical assistance actions with artisan producers from their fishing grounds to the development of finished products according to R&O's quality specifications.
The vertical integration of R&O Seafood Gastronomy, from the fishing point to our facilities, allows us to offer you a premium and original selection, built on the following “Values”:

The promotion of French fisheries, local or regional and artisanal: Coastal fish from the Mediterranean, the Atlantic or the English Channel. Seasonal products, from French fishing sectors that respect the coastlines and traditional methods.

The promotion of OSO ® sectors , the fruit of our own labeled productions, a symbol of gastronomic and environmental excellence in terms of Sustainable and Responsible aquaculture, certified Organic Agriculture 'BIO', responsible fishing 'MSC', and fair trade (ETI).

The assurance of traceability, care, and exceptional freshness, meticulously controlled by our R&O Quality and Sustainable Development Department, which ensures 24/7 monitoring from the alert email: qualite@rno.fr

In order to guarantee you a sustainable and responsible supply, R&O invites you to refer to the species guide published by Seaweb Europe .

Signs of excellence

OSO ®

The brand of sustainable and responsible seafood gastronomy

When it comes to seafood products from aquaculture, the OSO ® brand is the guarantee that the farming conditions are officially certified according to the rules of Organic Agriculture. The same applies to OSO ® wild species which are caught according to our 'responsible fishing' standards.

In this spirit, OSO ® offers a range of fish and shellfish, namely organic and wild prawns from Madagascar, organic sea bass and sea bream from the Gulf of Corinth.

For over 100 years, Reynaud ® , the brand of haute cuisine from the sea, has had the ambition to offer a wide range of excellent products. Its gastronomic selection offers the ultimate guarantee that the flavors, textures and pleasure in the mouth will be perfectly respected to offer gourmets an unforgettable taste experience. PERLE BLANCHE ®

Time, an ally of taste

Perle Blanche ® oysters undergo three years of attention and care before reaching full maturity and offering the full measure of their excellence. They are farmed between Normandy and Charente-Maritime, passing from the Pertuis Charentais where they are born to Utah Beach where they grow, to return to the Marennes basin where they finish flourishing. Once they are mature, they are fished, sorted, cleaned, carefully prepared, packaged in baskets and then sent each night to the Reynaud pavilion. Perle Blanche ®

oysters are then offered to fishmongers and restaurateurs who are uncompromising on taste and quality.
