One of the utility companies that provides me services is now using this company to process payments.
After I was obliged to accept the 'terms of service', a very common practice of customer facing companies, I decided to print out the 'terms of service' and understand what it contains. It is about xx pages of small print legalese ... for most people including myself xx pages of 'mumbo jumbo'.
When I looked at the company's website, it was interesting to find that the company has offices ... a total of xxx office addresses in xxx countries.
What is missing is any information whatsoever about how much the company is charging for their services.
I understand the business concept of 'economies of scale' and I also understand the corporate value of monopoly ... or at least oligopoly. I also understand the need for a revenue stream to fund the costs and generate profit ... but i would like to know a lot more about these numbers and how it relates to the utility bill I have to pay every month!
Though efficiency in a technical sense has been improving significantly over time ... it is also a reality that most customers in almost all sectors of the modern economy are having to pay more and more as time goes by.
This is happening at the same time that business efficiency or cost effectiveness gats better and better.
Companies are getting to be an order of magnitude bigger now in 2025 than they were a decade ago ... not to mention 50 or 60 years ago when I started my career.
