INTRODUCTION to INITIATIVES
People have IDEAS. When they have been thought through and there is some traction an IDEA becomes INITIATIVE. This website includes an alphabetical listing of initiatives with implementing organization or project name and brief decription. Most initiatives have good impactful objectives, but very few are able to organize themselves in such a way as to become truly efficient and most do not survive. It is a very big challenge to scale a small good initiatives into being big, sustainable and still good. Understanding the underlying dynamic of good and sustainable, and a relevant set of metrics is a good start!
.
THE ROLE OF ORGANIZATION and THE ROLE OF ORGANIZATIONS
They are an essential part of managing at scale

INITIATIVES ... A KEY STEP BETWEEN IDEA AND WORKING AT SCALE
The first step in getting from an idea to implementation at scale ... that is, putting ideas into practice ... But very few achieve the scale that is needed to make a significant difference
Putting ideas into practice ... Ideas become initiatives ... And then graduate from there.
Most ideas do not become initiatives ... most initiatives have a short life before they fail. There are huge number of initiatives, but many do not have durable impact. There are many reasons for this. Among the reasons are inexperience, inadequate knowledge of the issues and problems, and not enough funding.
Many good ideas fail. Few initiatives eventually become major organizations. Some of the problems and ineffectiveness would be avoided if there were better metrics and an efficient knowledge base.
