NOT FOR PROFIT MANAGEMENT METRICS
MOSTLY NOT 'FIT-FOR-PURPOSE'

Peter Burgess COMMENTARY (April 2023)
I have been reviewing some old material in my TVM archives. It is very interesting, but somewhat disturbing at the same time. This image comes from some material that I obtained from a report by the Schwab Foundation for Social Entrepreneurship written around 2012, a little more than ten years ago. At the time I wrote to the organization that wrote the paper ... headed up by Hilde Schwab, who is the Chair and Co-Founder. This is a not-for-profit based in Switzerland and no connection with the Schwab financial services organization that I know in New York but when I looked at the financials of the organization I got a lot more questions than answers. This is not the fault of this organization, but the fault of the prevailing management metrics and reporting that simply are totally unfit for purpose.
