We are a committed group of systems thinkers dedicated to transforming the ways industrial economies operate. In gratitude for the diverse writings of Donella (Dana) Meadows, whose teaching, essays and books have guided our collective career paths, we dedicate this website to her. Dr. Donella H. Meadows, a Pew Scholar in Conservation and Environment and a MacArthur Fellow, was one of the most influential environmental thinkers of the twentieth century. After receiving a Ph.D in biophysics from Harvard, she joined a team at MIT applying the relatively new tools of system dynamics to global problems. She became principal author of The Limits to Growth (1972), which sold more than 9 million copies in 26 languages. She went on to author or co-author eight other books. Her guiding message was elegantly simple: “We, humans, are smart enough to have created complex systems and amazing productivity; surely we are also smart enough to make sure that everyone shares our bounty, and surely we are smart enough to sustainably steward the natural world upon which we all depend.” Meet the Founders & Partners Jay Bragdon Founder Jay is the general partner of Conservest Management Co, an investment advisor to high net worth families. 'Economies That Mimic Life” is his third book on the subject of biomimicry in business and economics. As a pioneer in the field of corporate stewardship, he co-chaired the first national symposium on “Corporate Responsibility in Investments” at the Harvard Business School in 1972. Jay is a member of the USA Club of Rome, which addresses the multiple crises facing humanity and the planet. He was an original board member of the Sustainability Institute, which Donella Meadows founded, as well as the Academy for Systems Change, which evolved from it. Carolina Fernández-Jansink Co-Founding Partner Carolina is a life-centered business strategist and biomimic who supports companies and their leaders as they transition their business models towards regeneration, greater resilience and an enhanced capacity to thrive. She is the founder of the regenerative agency, Cascading Sustainability, and consulting partner at DearWise.Earth. She runs projects in The Americas and Europe as partner of Bioimimicry 3.8, Regenerative Reboot, COBIOM and Origen Group. Together with her family, she lives in the Line Creek Watershed located in the Appalachian Piedmont Forests, USA. She has a MSc in Business Administration from the Rotterdam School of Management. Frank Dixon Partner Frank Dixon is a system change pioneer, author, public speaker and advisor. In 2003, as the head of research for the largest ESG research company (Innovest), he developed the first corporate system change strategies and rating models. The new paradigm approach shifted the focus from benefiting shareholders to broader society. His Global System Change book series uses whole system thinking to provide systemic solutions in all major areas of society. He advises businesses, investors and governments on sustainability and system change. He has an MBA from the Harvard Business School.
