Peter Burgess COMMENTARY The US Army parade in Washington was a shambles ... frankly, a national disgrace. I was born in the UK in 1940, and some would say I am still very British. I enjoy British military parades. They fill me with a lot of justifiable pride. I was too young to have to serve through Natonal Service in the UK. However, over the years I have been 'protected' by British soldiers doing 'real' work in a variety of places round the world.
