- thank you so much Congressman korne I am
- so excited for your leadership on this
- issue tonight thank you for making time
- to address the American people Mr
- Speaker there are three people who come
- to mind when I think of people who
- cannot even give their money
- away Alexandria kazia Cortez do you
- remember when her donations were
- returned to her by members of Congress
- because they don't want to be associated
- with her Harvey
- Weinstein and Joe Biden those three
- cannot even give money away in fact by
- July 3rd 25 States Across America will
- have rejected President Biden's federal
- unemployment benefit bonuses I meet with
- organizations every day that request
- funds for worthwhile Endeavors sadly
- America is$ 28 trillion in debt and
- can't afford to spend the money on many
- of these Worthy the causes but leave it
- 1:02
- to Joe Biden to try to spend money in a
- way that actually hurts our economy and
- is rejected by Republican and Democrat
- Governors across our entire country
- that's a special level of basement
- incompetency we've got 9.3 million
- unfilled jobs and I hear it back home
- businesses can't get people back to work
- because they are making more to sit at
- home on the couch they would rather
- watch Dave pornoy eat a slice of pizza
- but then again maybe that's not his
- viewers maybe it's more of the folks
- sitting back watching joy bayart and the
- view cackle and demonize our country and
- all of our worthwhile efforts to restore
- dignity in this nation the Biden regime
- is literally incentivizing
- laziness but then again they set that
- example on a regular basis Calling it
- 2:00
- Quits in the middle of the day when's
- the last time the president hasn't
- called a lid before his afternoon
- snack in my home state of Colorado many
- corporations are offering bonuses that
- small businesses can't afford we're
- seeing massive signing bonuses from
- 10,000 to 30,000 for utility and HVAC
- workers and that's simply unsustainable
- according to the Colorado Restaurant
- Association more than 90% of restaurants
- are having issues finding workers I'm
- one of them I've had employees say I
- cannot work more than 2 days a week I
- cannot exceed 12 hours of work because
- it will cut in to my benefits that is UN
- American Joe Biden is quickly becoming
- the greatest threat to small businesses
- since fouchy
- fraud while small businesses across my
- district Across America are struggling
- to find workers struggling to stay open
- Joe Biden is struggling to stay awake
- 3:00
- I'm calling on this Administration to
- end these excessive Federal covid
- payouts and stop de incentify
- work Madison cauthorne Congressman thank
- you for your leadership on this issue
- and Mr Speaker I Yi they are accusing
- Democrats of saying we spend too much
- for anyone that wants to entertain that
- thought I ask you to think about the
- last time a person said has said in this
- country that the the government does too
- much for them that their social security
- check was too high that teachers are
- paid too
- much when was the last time anyone has
- heard or seen that another
- quote uh President Biden already lowered
- the deficit by $1.7 trillion they say
- his budget would cut the deficit by
- another three trillion by eliminating
- wasteful spending on Big Oil and Pharma
- we're
- told but it is in in
- 4:00
- fact our Democratic colleagues who
- prefer to maintain their massive
- subsidies for the elites and the wealthy
- in their so-called inflation reduction
- act just last
- year my friend from New
- York Mr Casio Cortez said quote I ask
- you think about the last time a person
- has said in this country that the
- government does too much for them them
- when was the last time anyone has heard
- or seen
- that I'll say
- it I'll say it right
- here I don't want the government doing
- most of the things that the government
- is doing to interfere with the ability
- of the American people to carry out
- their lives federal state and
- local when was the last time you had a
- bureaucrat show up and you said oh
- joy thank you I'm really glad there's a
- bureaucrat here
- 5:00
- when was the last time you were thankful
- for $32 trillion in debt $100,000 almost
- for every man woman and child in
- America anybody thankful for $32
- trillion in
- debt anybody anybody thankful for a
- border that's wide open being exploited
- by cartels while fentel comes in and KS
- kills our children everybody thankful
- for that Department of Homeland Security
- that doesn't actually secure the
- Homeland everybody thankful for an FBI
- that went after Scott Smith and labeled
- him a domestic terrorist for daring to
- defend his daughter in a school board
- meeting because she was assaulted in a
- bathroom anybody thankful for the IRS
- knocking on your
- door auditing the poor and the
- minorities three to five times
- more people thankful for that are you
- thankful for the EPA or the department
- of interior that sent a man to prison
- because he had some ponds on his Ranch
- in
- Montana we have a government that is
- weaponized against the American people
- and is undermining our liberties and
- 6:02
- they want more of it my colleagues on
- the other side of the aisle want more
- more government they want more taxes
- they want more spending they want more
- the gentlewoman from New York M Ocasio
- Cortez is now recognized for five
- minutes thank you madam chair and thank
- you to all of our Witnesses who are here
- testifying today um I want to dive a
- little bit into uh the paycheck
- Protection Program in a bit of what
- we've seen afterwards I have uh one of
- uh three reports here that I'd like to
- present today a Forbes report um
- detailing uh some of the revenues that
- banks have made um during the paycheck
- Protection Program um and also digging
- into a little bit of the fact that when
- it comes to loan forgiveness small
- business administration uh recently
- attempted to or recently opened a portal
- for small business owners to appeal
- directly with them for for forgiveness
- 7:00
- um Chase Bank of America and PNC have
- opted out of that direct program is that
- correct Mr DCH Mr Diamond and um Mr
- Mahan I believe so yeah I'm not aware of
- it I'm not a I'm not aware of the answer
- okay so um for your awareness uh your
- banks have opted out of paycheck
- Protection Program
- forgiveness um and uh
- excuse me that that that is incorrect it
- with with the with the portal with the
- SBA thank you I'm was trying to finish
- my sentence um now I would like to uh
- zero in a little bit on Bank of America
- Mr moan are you aware of how many PPP
- loans uh your bank has facilitated on
- behalf of its customers about uh
- 400 almost 500,000 and 95% are forgiven
- are repaid already and we're finish up
- the rest of them how how many of those
- 8:01
- loans in terms of the percentage have
- those loans been forgiven in full as
- opposed to in part the ones are forgiven
- are mostly vast vast majority be
- forgiven in full in full um what we're
- starting to see here with some reporting
- in the intercept and this is just one
- reason why I was curious about the
- numbers um is that we're starting to see
- that Bank of America is refusing to
- forgive some PPP loans in full um but in
- terms of the portal that Bank of America
- set up it's very difficult to appeal
- these decisions and in fact what we're
- seeing is that uh Bank of America had
- prepopulated um a forgiveness amount in
- their portal sometimes drastically lower
- than um than small business owners had
- anticipated and had qualified for and in
- instances where these small business
- owners have documentation
- um there's very little recourse or
- 9:02
- appeal uh does your portal make it easy
- to appeal their decisions so that after
- two attempts the SBA can then take over
- the
- case borrowers can appeal 95% of the
- loans are forgiven repaid today so we're
- only talking about 5% of the loans and a
- substantial part of those are going
- through the appeal process we speak and
- so the bars can appeal and we're in a
- process of finishing up that last 20,000
- or so loans it's it's it's it's a small
- amount of loans and their finishing and
- to certify that that 95% is a full
- forgiveness amount percent forgiveness
- repayment some of them full forgiveness
- not partial the vast majority of full
- forgiveness but I can get the data to
- you so is the 90 I apologize not to you
- know belabor the point but is at
- 95% a partial loan forgiveness or a full
- loan forgiveness rate they're getting
- what the borrowers are applying for the
- Forgiveness entitle in the program 95%
- of them have gone through or repaid and
- 10:01
- the vast majority of them are full
- forgiveness but they're entitled to what
- the program designed the government
- designed a program and we implement the
- program very short notice a half million
- people 10,000 people working on this
- program and Easter weekend working on
- the program to help those borrowers at
- the time and so we're finishing that up
- if it's just just let the process go and
- a lot of what you're reading frankly is
- not the facts because it's old it
- doesn't understand how the how the math
- works and so just give us some time
- we'll give you the facts and you'll it's
- um what is the reason that Bank of
- America chose to opt out of the SBA
- portal I can get somebody to give you
- that I have no idea of of whether I told
- you before I'm not sure we did or didn't
- and I have no idea why they would have
- made the decision but we are processing
- loans as fast as
- anybody okay and
- um I'm I'm sorry I'm just uh having a a
- tough
- time this is about $25.2 billion in loan
- 11:00
- amounts in your bank correct and not
- anymore no it's down there but at at one
- point in time and so we are
- looking and so we're you're uncertain as
- to why the bank has not chosen to uh
- enroll in the SBA portal I I said we
- will get you the information that the
- amount of loans we have down left on
- this thing is a a billion or so it's
- down to very little amount worries it's
- all paid back it's all through the team
- did a great job and we're happy to
- supply information to you need right we
- look forward to it thank you very much
- uh this girl aasia Cortez or whatever
- she is I mean she's in a totally
- different Universe it's
- basically it's basically socialism
- wrapped in ignorance well this story has
- gained some traction Congressman Ronda
- Sanders out of Florida running for
- governor in Florida in fact slamming the
- New York Congressional candidate
- Alexandri oio Cortez that remark leading
- to a fiery response from her and some
- others on the left and Congressman Ronda
- 12:00
- santis is with me now from the hill how
- are you sir and good morning to you
- thanks for spending time with us uh we
- should know that we have repeatedly
- reached out to acasio Cortez and we hope
- she will take us up on her invitation
- where's this going because the comment
- on tape that seemed to catch fire was
- this girl or whatever she is well so
- it's not about identity politics bill
- and I would note she referred to herself
- as a girl from the Bronx on Steven coar
- show said Trump can't handle a girl from
- the Bronx so this just political
- correctness run a muuk but it's a way to
- obscure scrutiny on her views which are
- socialists and they're rapped in
- ignorance in Florida Bill we have more
- people probably than any other state who
- have fled socialism places like Cuba
- Venezuela Nicaragua we understand
- socialism doesn't work and when you're
- justifying it by saying that the
- unemployment rate's low cuz people are
- working multiple jobs it just shows you
- don't know what you're talking about but
- one of the reasons I brought that up in
- that campaign stop was because she had
- been slamming Israel repeatedly
- throughout her campaign but she was
- 13:08
- talking about the Israeli occupation of
- Palestine but there's no Palestinian
- State there never has been a Palestinian
- State she was asked to justify those
- views and she couldn't justify her views
- so if you're slamming one of our
- strongest allies and you're doing it
- based on really no knowledge whatsoever
- I think the socialism and the ignorance
- is a toxic combination we've been
- waiting to get you on I appreciate you
- coming on today and responding to that
- now respond to this okay cuz her tweet
- to you was the following representative
- of santis it seems you're confused as to
- whatever I am I'm a Puerto Rican woman
- it's strange you don't know what that is
- given that 75,000 Puerto Ricans have
- relocated to Florida in the 10 months
- since Maria meaning the hurricane but
- I'm sure these new Florida voters
- appreciate your comments and tweet react
- to that again she's trying to play
- identity politics I don't care whether
- she's Puerto Rican whether she's
- Anglo-Saxon I don't care whether she's
- 14:01
- an Eskimo socialism doesn't work and
- it's wrong and you know what I would say
- there's probably a stronger aversion of
- socialism among some of our Hispanic
- populations in Florida than even the
- broader population and so she's trying
- to make it about very interesting debate
- here what do you think it says about the
- overall Democratic message and the
- reason I asked you is that she
- campaigned with Bernie Sanders over the
- weekend and the places where they went
- were very interesting it was St leis
- Missouri Kansas City Witchita
- Kansas what do they see in these parts
- of the
- country well look I don't think that
- they represent nearly a majority I mean
- if you're running on failed socialist
- policies you're going to lead a Nicholas
- Maduro wing for the Democratic party
- good luck for that we know that that
- won't work um I think that you have an
- energized left wing but I do think it is
- true bill that's where all the energy is
- in the Democratic party now the chairman
- of the whole party said that she is the
- 15:00
- wave of the future so you're looking at
- lower standard of living potentially if
- she had her way bigger government
- anti-israel views I just think that
- that's not what the majority of the
- American people want I did not expect
- you to say that was a good thing or good
- policy but do you think they can win on
- that no not not in certainly not in
- Florida she may be able to win in her
- district there uh but that's not
- representative of the country as a whole
- and uh I just think that our
- unemployment rate is under four right
- now we got more work to do don't get me
- wrong but the idea that you're going to
- go down the road that has failed time
- and time again just makes no sense to me
- thank you for coming on we hope she
- takes up our invitation
