Business Basics: 'HE'S GONE MAD': Putin Attacks UK PM To Start World War 3

Peter Burgess COMMENTARY

The USA, Germany and Great Britain are the three biggest financial supporters of Ukraine in its defence against Russia's aggression.

Kier Starmer has just stepped up the UK's contribution to Ukraine's defense despite the questions around ongoing US support under the upsoming Trump administration, not to mention the issues that might arise in connection with Germany's imminent elections.

I am not sure I understand the full context of this video ... though the visit of the UK Prime Minister is relatively clear!

I have zero respect for Donald Trump ... he is an obnoxious character and has been all his adult life. That is not to say he is ineffective. He is not ... but almost all the time his actions are inconsistent with 'common good' but mostly are favorable to himself and his close family and associates. He diminishes the United States in a way that is completely at odds with what I expect from the person who has been elected as President of the country.

  • you know how they say when dictators get
  • desperate they lose control well it
  • seems to me that Putin is getting
  • desperate and he's losing control
  • because what he just tried doing is
  • nothing showed of an attempt to start
  • World War II and this wasn't just an
  • isolated incident in fact it's been a
  • series of incidents that been going on
  • since the start of the war but have
  • really pecked up in the last few days so
  • let's go through them all the first one
  • and by far the most proba Matic one is
  • the attack on the UK prime minister just
  • a few days ago starmer went to Ukraine
  • to meet with president zalinski to talk
  • with him about the ongoing war and
  • cement a stronger relationship between
  • the two Nations I'm guessing Russia and
  • more specifically Russian President
  • Vladimir Putin was not happy with this
  • visit and that's why the attack took
  • place during this visit so first let's
  • get some details about what this visit
  • was for but like always be sure to hit
  • the like button down below it helps us

  • 1:01
  • out tremendously and let's watch this
  • clip we've had an excellent meeting
  • today uh not just productive but
  • historic because together we signed a
  • landmark agreement the very first of its
  • kind a new partnership between UK and
  • Ukraine that reflects the huge affection
  • that exists between our two Nations and
  • I'm proud to speak for the whole of the
  • United Kingdom when I say we are with
  • you
  • not just today or tomorrow for this year
  • or the next but for a 100 years long
  • after this terrible war is over and
  • Ukraine is free and thriving once again
  • in
  • 2025 the UK will give more Military
  • Support to Ukraine than ever
  • before we have already committed 3
  • billion for military aid this year and
  • we're going further to to support the

  • 2:00
  • front line providing a 2.2 billion pound
  • loan which will be paid back not by
  • Ukraine but from the interest on Frozen
  • Russian assets so today I'm pleased to
  • announce that we're providing 150
  • artillery barrels for Ukraine made by
  • Sheffield Forge
  • Masters that's the first time in over 20
  • years that these barrels were produced
  • in the United Kingdom and they will
  • start arriving in Ukraine in just a few
  • weeks
  • time I can also announce that we will be
  • delivering a new mobile air defense
  • system named
  • grave British designed co-funded with
  • Denmark developed to meet Ukraine's
  • needs and we will keep going further to
  • train Ukrainian troops as you guys just
  • heard UK is truly stepping up its
  • support of Ukraine all the while Russia

  • 3:00
  • is still struggling to win this war if
  • you ask Putin what does winning look
  • like in this war he'll tell you exactly
  • what it looks like he wants zalinski
  • gone he wants no military in Ukraine and
  • he wants Ukraine to stay out of NATO if
  • not he says he'll take over Ukraine and
  • make sure they stay independent that was
  • the whole goal when he launched this
  • special military operation back in
  • February 2022 he wanted to overthrow the
  • government in Ukraine in Kei and replace
  • it with a puppet government that he can
  • control but if you ask him how is Russia
  • going to win this war he has no answer
  • the Russian military is losing 1,500
  • plus men every single day and they're
  • gaining minimal ground it's not worth it
  • it's not enough and Russia has no hope
  • of eventually winning this war ever
  • winning this war while things are
  • looking problematic for Russia Ukraine
  • is getting more and more support from
  • its Ally this 100e partnership between
  • UK and Ukraine is a perfect example of
  • this in this agreement UK has promise to

  • 4:00
  • provide Ukraine support across various
  • sector including Healthcare military
  • technology while also pledging to
  • provide security guarantees if an end to
  • Russia's War eventually comes of course
  • this is not the first time UK has done
  • something like this since Russia's war
  • in Ukraine started in February 2022 the
  • UK has provided keev with 12.8 billion
  • pounds that's around5 billion in
  • financial aid including $9 billion in
  • military aid in fact in fact as of
  • December 2024 the UK is the third
  • highest Aid donor to Ukraine just after
  • Germany and the United States which is
  • in the first place because of all the
  • history with the aid that UK has
  • provided Ukraine and the fact that UK
  • prime minister stammer was visiting
  • zalinski in ke Putin knew that this was
  • not going to be a good meeting for him
  • he wasn't going to get any good news in
  • this meeting so what he decides to do he
  • decides to send in a drone attack at the
  • Ukrainian presidential Palace

  • 5:00
  • while the meeting was going on while the
  • UK prime minister was inside luckily the
  • Drone did not cause any major damage but
  • if it wasn't for Ukrainian air defenses
  • things could have turned out very very
  • badly I'm sure many of you guys remember
  • World War I was started because the
  • Austrian Arch Duke was assassinated and
  • then for four long years all the world
  • powers fought in brutal trench warfare
  • resulting in millions and millions of
  • deaths so just the fact that Putin was
  • willing to send in his attack so close
  • to a foreign world leader a major world
  • leader it's worrisome here's more
  • details on the attack well it's been a
  • lively morning here in keev uh in
  • Ukraine uh president zensi and K D were
  • holding talks at the presidential Palace
  • uh not far from where I am now when a uh
  • a drone uh was thrown over nearby by
  • what was believed to be the Russians um
  • the air defenses kicked in the Drone was

  • 6:00
  • shot down all of this taking part place
  • right near where K dmer and president
  • zenki just laid a wreath at the Memorial
  • Wall walking around in the open air in
  • central keev uh a Russian drone spotted
  • shot down it um the mayor of uh the
  • mayor of ke has confirmed that dead
  • breze from it hit a car but no one was
  • injured all of this taking place during
  • a visit a high-profile visit by the
  • British prime minister uh he
  • acknowledged it um during a a brief
  • press conference just now between pres
  • zinski and uh and K starma now as I said
  • at the start of the video this wasn't
  • just some isolated incident that I'm
  • blowing out of proportion this is a
  • trend of incident a series of incidents
  • that have been going on that hint at a
  • pattern that tell us that it's a pattern
  • that Russia is trying to achieve
  • something and we have two more incident
  • that we'll cover from Poland and Romania
  • but before we get to that I wanted to
  • mention something else that zalinski
  • brought up at this press conference that
  • was interesting to say the least you see
  • how Russia has been saying all this time

  • 7:00
  • that the US is controlling Ukraine in
  • its war against Russia Russia says
  • Russia isn't at war with Ukraine it's at
  • war with the US Putin has in fact
  • himself gone out to say that Ukrainian
  • people don't want to be part of NATO
  • it's the US that wants Ukraine to be
  • part of NATO when in reality this is
  • just not true this is just rhetoric that
  • he's using to convince his people why he
  • needs to send all of them to die in
  • Ukraine why he needs to sacrifice
  • millions and millions ions of Russians
  • for his quest to recreate the Soviet
  • Empire and the reason I bring this all
  • up is because at the press conference
  • Selinsky answers the questions about
  • NATO and he says Ukraine wants to be
  • part of NATO Ukrainian people want to be
  • part of NATO and zalinsky wants Ukraine
  • to be part of NATO but a major country
  • that's actually blocking Ukraine's path
  • to Nato it's none other than the US so
  • this goes directly against what Russia
  • has been using as a Justice ification
  • for this Invasion saying that us has

  • 8:01
  • been trying to pull Ukraine into NATO
  • here listen to yourself and then we'll
  • talk a little bit more about
  • it the US Slovakia Hungary and Germany
  • were honest that they did not want to
  • see us in NATO it's an open conversation
  • and there are no secrets about this
  • these are the four countries they all
  • have their reasons but they have not
  • seen Ukraine and NATO yet now the
  • obvious question that arises is why does
  • the US not want Ukraine in NATO or I
  • guess more specifically why is the US
  • blocking Ukraine's path to Nato now the
  • answer is simple Ukraine is at War there
  • is a foreign country in its territory of
  • course a country cannot come into NATO
  • while there's other country controlling
  • Ukrainian territory because technically
  • speaking that would trigger Article 5 or
  • at least that should trigger Article 5
  • but we don't know what would happen
  • because when a country is at War very
  • low chance say that's going to be

  • 9:00
  • approved into NATO but anyways all that
  • aside there's another aspect of this
  • that I want to talk about and this is
  • where we need to talk a little bit about
  • us Politics as you guys have heard on
  • this channel before we are neither a D
  • or R so we're not Democrats or
  • Republicans at least on the channel in
  • our personal lives we have people we
  • vote for but if you guys can tell that
  • just from watching the videos then we're
  • not doing our job correctly but here we
  • do want to talk a little bit about the
  • Biden Administration and the way they
  • dealt with Ukraine now of course they
  • were a big supporter of Ukraine in terms
  • of Aid in terms of military aid and all
  • that but one thing that was a bit
  • problematic with the Biden
  • Administration was their objective they
  • didn't have a clear objective as to what
  • they wanted to achieve with all this a
  • they did not want to give Ukraine all
  • the weapons it needed to win this war
  • because they feared that that will push
  • Putin to a nuclear option that would
  • back him into a corner and it would
  • force him to just launch nukes the

  • 10:02
  • Soviet Empire nukes that Putin has his
  • hands over and this kind of thinking
  • delayed a lot of important decisions
  • that should have taken place very early
  • on in the war and what I mean by that is
  • the sanctions that just came in against
  • the shadow Fleet should they came in
  • very early on in the war the attack
  • him's permission the permission to use
  • us missiles and foreign missiles to
  • strike inside Russia should have came in
  • early on in the the war the permission
  • to send f-16s should have came in early
  • on in the war the thing that delayed it
  • all was the Biden Administration and
  • more specifically Jake Sullivan the
  • National Security adviser because
  • blinkin was on board with a lot of these
  • very early on and he was pushing for
  • Ukraine to have all it needed to win
  • this war to push Russia back but Jake
  • Sullivan believed that we needed to
  • tread carefully as to not trigger a
  • nuclear war but the fact is that we
  • eventually did give Ukraine all the

  • 11:01
  • permission that we ended up giving we
  • gave them the attacks we gave them the
  • f-16s I guess we didn't give them f-16s
  • but we approved other countries to give
  • them f-16s and all this happened and no
  • nukes came flying out of Russia because
  • at the end of the day Putin knows the
  • real power of nukes is not launching
  • them it's just using them to delay put
  • pressure put fear in us so they delay
  • all the help that Ukraine needs and
  • another example of that is something we
  • recently got is when Biden gave his
  • interview most recent interview to MSNBC
  • he shared something that just doesn't
  • make sense to me he shared a story about
  • how Putin was worried that Ukraine has
  • nukes and nukes would come flying into
  • Moscow any day now and B then reassured
  • Putin that hey don't worry Ukraine
  • doesn't have nukes but anyways let's you
  • guys watch the clip and you decide for
  • yourself made the point in your uh State
  • Department speech was quite striking
  • that um you're the one who has walked

  • 12:00
  • the middle of of keev Putin never got
  • there and I'm not sure anyone I I'm sure
  • no one would have predicted of these two
  • leaders which one is going to be the
  • first one in Kei when this war started
  • and when this war started there was a
  • tremendous tension about the possibility
  • of nuclear confrontation the possibility
  • of Vladimir Putin using nuclear weapons
  • did you have any direct communication
  • with Vladimir Putin to deter him from
  • using nuclear weapons well I did I when
  • he started talking about tactical I saw
  • this guy wants to use tactical nuclear
  • weapons no I don't want to do that I
  • don't want to do
  • that nuclear weapons tactical nuclear
  • weapons Europe scares the hell of
  • everybody including the Russians mhm
  • including the
  • Russians and so what I I made it clear
  • to him look he said to me that what he
  • wanted was he wanted to make sure that

  • 13:00
  • there were no nuclear weapons in Europe
  • I mean in uh in
  • Ukraine that uh there was they weren't a
  • member of
  • NATO and uh that uh they would not be uh
  • uh and he he started off one of the
  • conversations by saying I know you can
  • take me out tomorrow I know you can take
  • me out tomorrow from Ukraine you can
  • strike Moscow you can stri I said that's
  • not a problem we've already taken the
  • nuclear weapons out so took them all out
  • there's none there we're not going to
  • put any back in and they're not going to
  • become part of NATO until they change
  • their system significantly we're going
  • to continue to help them grow if we can
  • but that those two things aren't going
  • to happen but you're not going to go in
  • and take them you're not going to in and
  • claim the area now to contrast Biden's
  • policy to that of trump ukrainians are
  • actually thankful about one thing and
  • that Trump has a clear specific
  • objective and that objective is to get
  • peace in Ukraine so that does help and
  • if Putin doesn't want to come to the

  • 14:00
  • table the negotiating table let's say he
  • believes Russia is winning us wants to
  • stop its support that will help Russia
  • that's what Putin is thinking let's say
  • if he does believe that then General
  • kok's plan is to just arm Ukraine to the
  • teeth now that's definitely not
  • something that Putin is going to be
  • happy about on top of that we recently
  • had the Senate hearing of their treasury
  • secretary that Trump appointed and he
  • went on to say that Trump does plan to
  • impose more sanctions on Russia to force
  • it to come to the table and bring peace
  • in Ukraine now this is something we
  • talked about with none other than former
  • Navy SEAL Chuck far on our recent live
  • stream so let's hear that so to me
  • Ukraine needs an opportunity to do that
  • to the
  • Russians look that being said like every
  • other war in history there will be a
  • negotiated settlement absolutely it's
  • it's it's going to happen but I think
  • the world needs to see
  • how desperate a situation this is for

  • 15:02
  • Russia right now and as I see it and I
  • pretty closely Russia needs peace now
  • more than Ukraine does the other
  • question I did have is since I'm sure
  • you've seen this right A lot of people
  • say 2025 is when all the problems
  • casualties curse incursion and the
  • economic problems catch up to Russia but
  • Trump's coming in and he wants to push
  • for peace that's he's been very vocal
  • about that wouldn't Ukraine rather
  • prefer that they wait until Russia gets
  • even more
  • desperate yeah and anyone who's watched
  • me before on Maria report or the Kei
  • post look I always stay out of American
  • politics because you know you just you
  • just can't win so when I speak about the
  • president when I spoke about Biden I I
  • refer to the commanderin-chief because I
  • am just you know I'm I'm focused on this
  • this milit

  • 16:00
  • matter I had a hunch that as as the uh
  • candidates were debating and maneuvering
  • to get into the White House that the
  • incoming president was was doing
  • everything he could to get the largest
  • amount of Voters including some people
  • who think you know Ukraine isn't our
  • problem this is you know what whatever
  • they think and people on the other side
  • of the coin guys like myself and and lik
  • Le Sam here where we see one nation is
  • the aggressor and the bully and the
  • other victim you know the other nation
  • is a
  • victim so it was encouraging to me when
  • uh Trump instead of saying I'm going to
  • solve this in one day as he frequently
  • said on the campaign tour uh the latest
  • estimate is it's going to take at least
  • 6 months but here is something that I
  • that I know
  • and when was uh coming up in my career I

  • 17:01
  • had an opportunity to attend some pretty
  • interesting schools and one of them was
  • about psychology in Conflict now these
  • are government training programs that
  • they send Frogman to and it was
  • everything from one rifle squad leader
  • against another the temperament of the
  • leaders you know is one guy going to be
  • really aggressive was one guy going to
  • be really shy but it it it ratcheted it
  • up right it also went to national
  • leaders what is the personality of
  • somebody like Vladimir Putin so just
  • think about that in your mind what is
  • the what is the what is the personality
  • of Someone Like Donald
  • Trump okay everyone's got their own
  • opinions now I want to put a set of
  • circumstances on the table how do you
  • think Trump will react if he negotiate
  • some sort of settlement with Putin and
  • Putin makes him look
  • bad and Putin doesn't keep his side of

  • 18:00
  • the bargain and Putin makes Trump look
  • like a monkey what do you think P what
  • do you think Trump's going to do I think
  • he's going to ship every single bullet
  • Hammer knife gun we have in the United
  • States and push all of those chips into
  • Ukraine and let Ukraine have at
  • Russia so there is this little moment
  • there the Pres
  • commander-in-chief he wasn't like that
  • he he didn't care right the president uh
  • President
  • Biden NATO wanted to give F f-16s to uh
  • uh to Ukraine President Biden said no
  • we're not going to do it and he said
  • we're not going to let NATO do it and
  • finally NATO just said you know you
  • we're doing it and then you this is what
  • you're gaslighting you're getting out of
  • Washington and again I'm not a d or an R

  • 19:01
  • but when people are peeing on my shoes
  • you're not going to tell me it's raining
  • right Jake Sullivan got up there just
  • recently a guy I'd really like to punch
  • in the nose and he said you know we sent
  • f-16s uh to Ukraine wait a minute Jake
  • Jake old buddy wait wait a minute wait
  • you know how many f-16s United States
  • has sent to
  • Ukraine zero none not one not a spare
  • tire not a rear view mirror nothing how
  • many how many Pilots have we trained for
  • Ukraine
  • two they're not a Top Gun school either
  • they're at a National Guard base in
  • Arizona right who's dragging their
  • feet but again the F-16 is not going to
  • win the war in Ukraine the attacks is
  • not going to win the war in
  • Ukraine Ukraine's going to win by the
  • Russian army losing
  • in Ukraine this is this is Russia's

  • 20:02
  • Vietnam not Afghanistan because they've
  • already lost a 100 times the people they
  • lost in Afghanistan this is their
  • Vietnam yeah I guess that that was my
  • issue with Biden a little bit too is
  • like we didn't know what the objective
  • was for the administration like we
  • didn't know if he wanted Ukraine to win
  • if he wanted Ukraine to push out Russia
  • it seemed more like everything was just
  • slowly a yes like just enough to stay
  • alive
  • and you know that was really it and I
  • you know the president comes in he's
  • he's the leader of the country and just
  • one of his jobs as command
  • commander-in-chief right that's just one
  • of one of the vitally important tasks
  • that the president
  • executes presidents depend on the advice
  • of the National Security Council right
  • and there will be military people in
  • there there's intelligence people and
  • increasingly and this this is the way it

  • 21:00
  • should be in a civilian government the
  • leaders of the National Security
  • councils they they tend to be people
  • with civilian backgrounds but security
  • educations right so that Jake Solin
  • right never carried a rifle in his life
  • and by the way I don't think that's a
  • necessary job for a National Security
  • guy never been a secret agent never
  • delivered a dead drop okay but you got a
  • PhD from Georgetown okay that's great
  • but one of the things I think Jake over
  • appreciated was a nuclear threat from
  • Russia it it wasn't going to happen he
  • didn't seem to grasp the use of
  • strategic weapons he doesn't seem to
  • grasp the dynamic that it is not the
  • United States against Russia
  • viav with nuclear weapons there is a
  • complete band of conflict that goes from
  • peace and love to hybrid Warfare to y
  • Warfare Etc and he didn't also grasp

  • 22:02
  • that Russia will always be flumix in a
  • nuclear war because they have to worry
  • about France they have to worry about
  • Great Britain they can't one strike us
  • mutually assured destruction as horrible
  • as that sounds it's worked for 70 years
  • right yeah you this is the pistol in the
  • nightstand you don't want to use it but
  • you're going to need it uh if you wind
  • up negotiating with a burglar one
  • night this is where the information
  • Warfare Russia has is insane it is true
  • like how much they have infiltrated
  • American Media and I'm guessing other
  • countries
  • too yeah they you
  • know that's where they are the world
  • superpower and you know information
  • Warfare but it's
  • also uh inflecting the the
  • information uh we all live in sort of
  • these information biomes right everyone

  • 23:00
  • has their own little you know their
  • their sources of news and and where they
  • go and and largely you have a source of
  • news because you listen to it you might
  • tend to agree with it you think that its
  • news is complete you think it's fair or
  • even that it simply conforms to your own
  • prejudices disinformation and inflecting
  • the information space it's so easy
  • because the Russians all they need to do
  • is drop
  • in alarmist uh
  • extremist uh Prejudice they just need to
  • drop that stuff in and then lean on the
  • schisms so they create tension by being
  • racist sexist homophobic jingoistic
  • whatever it is they they create frion in
  • the system and then they lean on it so
  • so it's it it's you know here's how much

  • 24:01
  • the system has been leaned on look I'm
  • an old guy when I was a kid in school
  • they used to tell us that America was
  • the greatest nation in the world because
  • we were muts because we had people from
  • all over the world and it made this it
  • made we weren't like iron we had we had
  • ingredients from all over the world and
  • we were really
  • strong now you can you can polarize that
  • you can pull that apart uh with identity
  • politics which was invented by the
  • Russians the KGB before them and the FSB
  • what is now information Warfare used to
  • be called active measures right they
  • bought correspondents they planted news
  • stories and they are just masterful at
  • it and if you go online you can go to
  • the KGB archives by uh General mroy can
  • and you can read the manuals that the
  • KGB wrote on how how to do it it's

  • 25:00
