- this is super yot news with e
- sisman hi guys welcome back to the
- channel okay I wasn't planning on making
- a video today uh but there's been a
- press conference in Italy uh involving
- the authorities Italian authorities who
- were involved in the uh rescue search
- and rescue um and they pretty much all
- all of the people the heads of the
- Departments spoke including the Italian
- prosecutor um and I wanted to give you
- some details also there's some new
- details come um through this press
- conference and there's also some um
- information that's been sent to me from
- a boat designer who apparently has
- spoken to some of the crew I can't I
- can't confirm this because I have not
- spoken to this person myself but what I
- will read it and um like I said I can't
- confirm that it's true but if it is it's
- very interesting information so and it
- it kind of explains how the crew ended
- 1:00
- up uh getting off the boat and the and
- the guest did not so we we'll get into
- it anyway the first the first thing is
- that the Italian prosecutors have
- confirmed that a manslaughter inquiry
- has been launched after the sinking of
- the yacht basan I mentioned this in the
- last video but uh we said that there was
- a possibility now now they're saying
- there's an inquiry now that does not
- mean that there the in it doesn't mean
- that they've been charged with any
- crimes it means that they're looking at
- whether or not to bring charges against
- the crew all right so we got i' got some
- information about the Dives which I
- think the divers who watch the channel
- who contacted me to give me some
- information we'll find interesting 123
- Dives were made on the wreck by 20
- divers 11 of them specialist divers uh
- come from all over Italy are going in
- pairs they did four over 4,400 minutes
- underwater in total which is I mean I
- don't know anything about diving but
- 2:00
- that sounds like a lot to me uh and
- they're working at the really at the
- maximum depths that they can work at
- without having specialist equipment with
- them so you know incredible what they
- did don't forget what the what their aim
- was you know it's not just that they
- were diving deep they were going down to
- find dead bodies so you know quite
- incredible what they what these people
- do we I kind of sometimes I take them
- for granted just don't even mention them
- so I thought I'd mention them now but
- you know amazing job that they do got
- some um some some of the facts or well
- some some of the information that was
- given at the beginning of the press
- conference was was this uh now it was
- refuted by the prosecutor but I'll read
- it anyway it's quite gruesome to be
- honest it says five of the six guests
- were found in the same
- cabin um an official from the fire
- rescue was was saying this and he said
- that they apparently they all ran into
- the poort port side cabin as the vessel
- 3:01
- was sinking on the starboard side uh
- 3:04
- five like I said five of the six were in
- 3:06
- this one cabin now apparently none of
- 3:08
- them was staying in that cabin uh on on
- 3:12
- the trip uh and they they believe that
- 3:15
- the the um the official from the fire
- 3:18
- rescue service believes that they they
- 3:20
- were they were going in there trying to
- 3:22
- flee um and they were found trying to
- 3:25
- hide in there that's that's what he said
- 3:28
- that the guests were trying to hide and
- 3:29
- you know they were trying they were
- 3:30
- going onto the higher side of the vessel
- 3:33
- however the Italian prosecutor Ambrosio
- 3:36
- cartosio he it also at the press
- 3:39
- conference and he said that it was not
- 3:40
- possible at this stage to prove that
- 3:42
- they made their own way into that cabin
- 3:44
- or if the water carried them in you know
- 3:47
- afterwards uh the fact that they were
- 3:49
- all in one cabin and then that's why it
- 3:51
- took them so long to find the the seven
- 3:53
- uh the sixth body or the seventh body
- 3:56
- there was six you know stuck in the
- 3:58
- vessel and uh the the the the young girl
- 4:01
- was in a different area of the boat now
- another question that got asked which
- I'm not surprised that that they don't
- know the answer to this the question was
- did you find the black box of voyage
- data recorder the answer from the
- officials at the conference said we
- don't know if there was one and if it is
- it will be inside the vessel now as we
- 4:20
- said in an earlier video there will not
- 4:22
- be a black box or or a vdr uh present as
- 4:25
- the yacht wasn't required to carry one
- 4:28
- based on class regulations so unless
- 4:31
- somebody went out of the way and said
- 4:33
- look I want a vdr there won't be one
- 4:36
- because most of these vessels are built
- 4:37
- to class the class States it doesn't
- 4:40
- need one so they won't have one right um
- 4:42
- the the owners only generally get
- 4:44
- involved in the stuff that they want
- 4:45
- like you know pizza ovens and wood
- 4:49
- floors and whatever you so they don't
- 4:50
- they don't really get involved in that
- 4:52
- side of it so the almost certainly will
- 4:54
- not be a vdr I've been scanning
- 4:56
- photographs to see uh and I can't find
- 4:59
- any photographs to suggest that there
- 5:01
- might be one now what do I mean by that
- 5:03
- there is a a device uh this is the
- 5:07
- answering the the other part of that
- 5:08
- question he says if if there is a vdr
- 5:10
- it'll be inside the vessel that's not
- 5:12
- strictly true there there it's a slight
- 5:14
- correction the vdr is of on the bridge
- 5:16
- when they when they have one but there's
- 5:18
- also a capsule that fits to the top of
- 5:20
- the vessel and if the vessel sinks to
- 5:23
- make it easy they can they can send
- 5:25
- someone down or a robot down and they
- 5:26
- can just pop that cap capsule off and
- 5:29
- bring get up to the surface um so yeah
- 5:33
- if there is one there would be a capsule
- 5:34
- on the top but I don't think there will
- 5:35
- be one so um that's a dead end for the
- 5:39
- Press who are asking about that uh
- 5:41
- another thing that they W that they
- 5:43
- almost certainly won't have is something
- 5:45
- that we call a p which is a public
- 5:47
- address system if you've ever been on a
- 5:49
- cruise ship you'll hear them saying
- 5:51
- hello this is the captain speaking blah
- 5:52
- blah blah uh and also when they do
- 5:55
- drills and they do the alarms then they
- 5:57
- come on and they tell you what's
- 5:58
- happening well on on any vessel under
- 6:00
- 3,000 gross tons that is not a
- 6:02
- requirement so most of them don't have
- 6:04
- them now they obviously they will have
- 6:06
- the alarm so if there was a a general
- 6:08
- alarm if the captain was going to
- 6:10
- abandon ship then he would he would have
- 6:13
- that facility but he wouldn't have the
- 6:15
- the bit where he speaks to a public
- 6:16
- address
- 6:17
- system now another question from the
- 6:20
- Press was how is it possible that the
- 6:22
- captain of a ship like this is not being
- 6:24
- examined psychologically remember these
- 6:26
- are the this was in Sp in Italian and
- 6:28
- translated into English
- 6:30
- she uh the reporter said seven people
- 6:32
- have died if there are twin ships I
- 6:34
- heard there are twin ships uh and the
- 6:37
- question kind of got a bit it was a bit
- 6:39
- confusing because the the translators
- 6:41
- translating on the Fly you know so um
- 6:45
- the answer was that they they know there
- 6:47
- are some ships that are similar but not
- 6:49
- identical and and they also said that
- 6:51
- the crew are all in shock and they've
- 6:53
- sustained injuries as well and and we
- 6:56
- want to look after the crew the crew's
- 6:58
- wellbeing first and then we'll talk talk
- 6:59
- to them later that was the official
- 7:01
- answer now as to Twin ship they talk
- 7:05
- about sister ships there's 10 Yachts
- 7:08
- built by Pini Navi um but basan was the
- 7:11
- only Sloop design the only yacht with a
- 7:14
- single Mast all the others have uh two
- 7:16
- masts I believe um I might be wrong on
- 7:19
- that but I know that this was the only
- 7:21
- vessel that had that giant single
- 7:24
- Mast um now this is an important thing
- 7:29
- because so so far and especially with
- 7:31
- the uh
- 7:33
- Mr what's his name Gio vanatti from uh
- 7:37
- Italian C group he's been blaming the
- 7:39
- crew very quick to blame the crew
- 7:41
- obviously he has interests um you know
- 7:44
- to look after in the in in in a company
- 7:48
- and um but what we what people are not
- 7:52
- really taken into account people he's
- 7:54
- saying that he he held up things saying
- 7:56
- look there was a storm coming um so all
- 7:58
- of the all the guests should have been
- 8:00
- with life jackets on I mean if you did
- 8:02
- that every time there was a storm um
- 8:06
- nobody would ever go to seea because
- 8:07
- everyone would be terrified thinking
- 8:08
- they were going to die right you don't
- 8:10
- get people in life jackets just because
- 8:13
- there's a storm uh there was no uh prior
- 8:16
- warning that there was going to be any
- 8:18
- tornado or anything like that but what
- 8:20
- the what they're saying in what they
- 8:22
- were saying in this press conferences
- 8:24
- there was there may have been a down
- 8:26
- burst also sometimes known as a Micro
- 8:29
- Burst a Micro Burst is a small down
- 8:31
- burst I believe I'm not an expert on
- 8:32
- this by any means um but they said yes
- 8:36
- they think we we may there may have been
- 8:38
- a down burst yes this is the answer now
- 8:41
- however it's very hard for satellites to
- 8:42
- record this type of event because they
- 8:44
- happen only for a few seconds so that's
- 8:47
- what they said now if you don't know
- 8:49
- what a down burst is uh I've got this
- 8:51
- from um I think it was Wikipedia it is a
- 8:53
- down burst is a strong downward and
- 8:56
- outward gushing wind system that
- 8:58
- emanates from a point source above and
- 9:01
- blows radially that is in straight lines
- 9:04
- in all directions from an area of impact
- 9:06
- at surface level capable of producing
- 9:09
- damaging winds it may sometimes be
- 9:11
- confused with a tornado where high
- 9:13
- velocity winds Circle a central area and
- 9:16
- air moves Inward and upward these
- 9:18
- usually last for seconds to minutes and
- 9:21
- down burs are particularly strong
- 9:23
- downdrafts within
- 9:25
- thunderstorms uh now downdrafts uh down
- 9:29
- burst
- 9:30
- uh have um uh brought down aircraft in
- 9:33
- the past Delta Airlines flight 191 1985
- 9:36
- us airflight uh 1016 in 1994 two
- 9:40
- examples where planes have actually been
- 9:43
- just pushed out of the sky because of
- 9:45
- down base so we have to remember that
- 9:48
- there was an extraordinary event
- 9:50
- happening possibly um so it's not you
- 9:52
- know you can't just automatically blame
- 9:54
- the crew a lot of I've seen a lot of
- 9:57
- comments on my videos and on videos on
- 10:00
- uh other channels saying you know why
- 10:02
- did the crew leave the guests on board
- 10:03
- I'm going to get into that shortly
- 10:06
- actually uh another question was will
- 10:08
- the crew have to stay in Italy um and
- 10:11
- the answer was they they'll need to be
- 10:12
- questioned again but they cannot be
- 10:14
- detained unless they are charged with a
- 10:16
- crime
- 10:17
- so effectively the crew would be allowed
- 10:20
- to leave once they're done having their
- 10:23
- medical treatment and and being
- 10:24
- questioned by the authorities uh now one
- 10:27
- of the things they were talking about in
- 10:29
- the press conference is that we're
- 10:30
- talking about um testing the water for
- 10:33
- hydrocarbons um and It produced a lot of
- 10:36
- questions from the Press about is this
- 10:38
- to figure out if the engin engines were
- 10:40
- running or not uh now the hydrocarbons
- 10:43
- thing is is to do with pollution to
- 10:44
- check if there's linkage coming from the
- 10:46
- yacht it's got nothing to do with
- 10:48
- whether the engines were running or not
- 10:50
- now the vessel would have had generators
- 10:51
- running gen sets running to give power
- 10:54
- to the vessel's electrical system such
- 10:55
- as the AC and the lights and all the
- 10:58
- other stuff that was in operation on the
- 11:00
- boat now um this was sent to me just
- 11:03
- before I started to film I don't know
- 11:05
- this chat he is a yach designer he has a
- 11:08
- Facebook page and he posted this on his
- 11:11
- Facebook page I cannot verify if any of
- 11:14
- this is true um but um somebody sent it
- 11:17
- to me who has been a very good source of
- 11:19
- information in the past and he said it
- 11:21
- is a credible source so I'm going to
- 11:23
- read it but like I said I just want to
- 11:25
- preface it with the fact that I I can't
- 11:27
- prove if if this is true or not but this
- 11:29
- is Tad Robert's post on Facebook he says
- 11:31
- we've learned a few things from the
- 11:33
- divers in Italy and some comments from
- 11:35
- Currin and former crew he say divers
- 11:38
- reported the boat is intact presumably
- 11:41
- that means the rig is all there and in
- 11:43
- one piece she's lying on the bottom at a
- 11:46
- 90° heel angle so she's lean laying over
- 11:50
- to our starbard side which is why the MK
- 11:52
- is not sticking up out of the water
- 11:54
- which I never even thought of it's has
- 11:56
- got a 75 M Mass it's in 55 ft of water
- 11:59
- if the boat was sitting on its on its
- 12:01
- bottom then the mass you'd be able to
- 12:03
- see the mass right um now this is the
- 12:06
- interesting more interesting part for me
- 12:08
- anyway he says a crew member has
- 12:10
- reported that the weather
- 12:12
- deteriorated and they the crew were on
- 12:15
- Deck securing everything movable
- 12:18
- cushions doors Etc and the boat was
- 12:21
- healing at about 20 degrees to starboard
- 12:24
- in the strong wind suddenly the healing
- 12:27
- increased possibly when there's down
- 12:29
- just happened and they were in the water
- 12:31
- he said he says this sounds like sudden
- 12:34
- massive down flooding so that's very
- 12:37
- interesting the bit about the crew being
- 12:39
- on the deck makes sense uh when there is
- 12:42
- bad weather you know it's all hands to
- 12:45
- uh to secure things because if you've
- 12:47
- gone from suddenly being very calm and
- 12:49
- you've got guests on uh I've showed it
- 12:52
- in many videos over the years on my
- 12:54
- channel where I I'll point to a y and
- 12:56
- I'll say I can tell there's no one on
- 12:57
- that boat because no no guests because
- 13:00
- everything's covered with with canvas
- 13:02
- covers there's no cushions all the
- 13:04
- cushions get stowed inside the vessel
- 13:06
- when they're not in use uh so but when
- 13:08
- the guests on board it all gets put out
- 13:10
- all of the areas on the boat are all
- 13:12
- decorated with plants and you know all
- 13:15
- the tabl are decorated fruit and all
- 13:17
- that kind of stuff and they they've gone
- 13:20
- from dead Cal that we saw in the photo
- 13:23
- to this storm they're all outside
- 13:25
- grabbing all this stuff putting it
- 13:26
- inside the bat to try and save it and
- 13:28
- then all the sudden the boat you know
- 13:31
- heals over and throws them into the
- 13:33
- water now if you're wondering how did
- 13:35
- they manage to get into the life boats I
- 13:37
- mentioned this in the previous video the
- 13:39
- life raft that they were in they are on
- 13:42
- something called a hydrostatic release
- 13:44
- and as the boat sank the life raft would
- 13:47
- have popped up uh assuming that they
- 13:49
- weren't able to somehow um launch one of
- 13:51
- them themselves then they would have
- 13:54
- popped up anyway uh the hydrostatic
- 13:56
- release would sever the cable that holds
- 13:58
- it in place and then the canister which
- 14:00
- the the raft is in would open itself and
- 14:02
- it would come to the surface and then
- 14:04
- they'd be able to climb in I don't know
- 14:06
- if that happened um but I'm saying that
- 14:09
- that's a possibility as to if they're
- 14:10
- all in the water clearly there's no life
- 14:12
- raft in the water but when the boat sank
- 14:15
- the life raft would have come up so
- 14:17
- that's probably what happened now
- 14:19
- there's one last thing before I go there
- 14:21
- was talk in the press conference
- 14:23
- questions asked to the officials about
- 14:25
- the tender being missing uh this
- 14:28
- question was asked to the investigators
- but a clear answer wasn't given as to
- whether or not the tender was missing so
- the reason why this is an important
- question is because if the tender is
- missing it could point to the tender
- being in the water right the only
- rational reason why the tender might be
- missing is because the tender's in the
- water if the tender's in the water then
- the uh one of the doors would have been
- open like the lazarette door or the
- stand door most likely the stand door I
- what I believe they did is they'd have
- 15:00
- the stand door open they'd have the boat
- the tender would be there and then when
- the guests wanted to go out the crew
- would get in the tender there and then
- drive it round to the lazarette door and
- pick them up that's what I've been told
- by an ex crew member who worked on these
- boats for many years so now when the
- boat is uh when the tender is put away
- they would stow it in a tender garage
- which is on the four deck and they'd
- lift it up with a crane and put it in
- and I believe there's a door that goes
- on now if there's no cover and the
- tenders missing that is easily
- explainable that it floated away when
- the when the boat sank right but that
- tend to be missing if it is missing
- because it wasn't
- clarified it could point to some doors
- being open on the
- vessel all right guys I'm going to wrap
- up there I just wanted to bring you that
- information like I said I wasn't
- planning on doing a video today but I
- think there's there's some very
- interesting and important information in
- that in that in that in this video so
- I've wanted to put it out there right
- guys thanks very much for watching and
- I'll I'll bring you another report as
- soon as I have something all right
- bye-bye
