Peter Burgess COMMENTARY
Kamala Harris did not get to be Vice President of the United States by magic but by true competence in a competitive world.

I am delighted to see this 'put-down' of Trump's debate performance in the aftermath of the CNN Presidential Debate of June 28th 2024. Vice President Kamala Harris is not 'flashy' but she is serious and competent. This contrasts with Trump's deep incompetence and vindictiveness.

Being Vice-President in the United States is a difficult assignment. It seems that she has done little wrong in that position and has the competence to take on Trump and viscerate him!

  • So Kamala Harris just demolished Trump after debate. I mean, she tore into his
  • lies like a hungry dog with a steak. Trump's probably still trying to figure out what hit
  • him. Let's break down how Harris turned Trump's BS into her personal punching bag.
  • If you're a passionate democrat please make sure to like this video so our message can
  • reach as many people as possible, now lets get back to roasting the biggest liar in US history.
  • And boy, did those fireworks explode! Kamala Harris came out swinging,
  • ready to expose Trump's lies faster than he could come up with new ones. It was like
  • watching a surgeon with a scalpel, except instead of removing tumors, she was cutting through BS.
  • First up on Harris's hit list? Trump's wishy-washy stance on the January 6th fiasco. You'd think a
  • guy who claims to love America so much would have no problem condemning an attack on the Capitol,
  • right? Wrong! Harris called him out, saying, 'He would not disavow what happened on January 6th. He
  • would not give a clear answer on whether he would stand by the election results this November.'
  • I mean, come on! Not accepting election results is like a toddler throwing a
  • tantrum because they lost at Candy Land. Except this toddler has nuclear codes.
  • But wait, there's more! Harris wasn't done exposing Trump's flip-flopping ways. She
  • turned her laser focus to his stance on reproductive rights. And let me tell you,
  • it was about as clear as mud. Harris didn't pull any punches, saying, 'He went back and
  • forth about where he stands on one of the most critical issues of freedom in America,

  • 2:00
  • which is the right of a woman to make decisions about her own body. He has
  • been completely ambiguous and all over the place about where he stands on that issue.'
  • All over the place is right! Trump's position on
  • abortion is like a weather vane in a tornado - spinning wildly and completely unreliable.
  • But here's where it gets really juicy. Harris exposed Trump's sneaky little plan.
  • She pointed out, 'He hand-selected three members of the United States
  • Supreme Court with the intention that they would undo the protections of Roe v. Wade,
  • and that's exactly what they did.' Talk about playing the long game! Trump was
  • setting up his chess pieces while the rest of us were still learning how to play checkers.
  • And if you thought that was bad, hold onto your hats, folks. Harris dropped a bombshell
  • about Trump's future plans. She warned, 'If Donald Trump were elected to be President of
  • the United States this November, he will sign a national abortion ban. Take him at his word.
  • He said he would when he was president before. He said if it came to his desk,
  • he'd sign it. There's no reason to believe anything would change.'

  • 3:03
  • A national abortion ban? That's like telling half the country, 'Sorry,
  • your body is now government property.' Harris didn't mince words about what this would mean:
  • 'A national abortion ban means that folks in New York, California, Maryland,
  • all these other states that have protected the right of a woman to make decisions about
  • her own body and not have her government tell her what to do will be at risk.'
  • Now, you might think that after Harris's verbal smackdown, Trump would be down for the count.
  • But like a political zombie, he just keeps coming back for more. So let's take a moment
  • to compare the dynamic duo of Biden and Harris with the one-man circus act that is Donald Trump.
  • Harris wasn't just there to play defense. Oh no, she came armed with a laundry list of Biden's
  • achievements that would make even Santa's naughty and nice list look short. And let me tell you,
  • it was quite the contrast to Trump's never-ending stream of empty promises.
  • First up on the hit parade? Infrastructure, baby! While Trump was busy tweeting about
  • 'Infrastructure Week' for four years straight (spoiler alert: it never happened),
  • Biden actually got stuff done. Harris proudly pointed out that Biden managed

  • 4:03
  • to negotiate 'bipartisan infrastructure deals that have resulted in trillions
  • of dollars being allocated to upgrade America's infrastructure.' That's right,
  • folks. While Trump was playing Minecraft, Biden was out there fixing actual roads and bridges.
  • But wait, there's more! Harris didn't stop at just roads and bridges. She went full-on James Bond,
  • talking about Biden's efforts in national security. Apparently,
  • our man Joe has been spending quality time 'in the Situation Room with heads of the military
  • and intelligence community to ensure America's safety.' I don't know about you, but I feel safer
  • already knowing Biden's on the job and not, say, flushing classified documents down the toilet.
  • And speaking of safety, let's talk NATO. Remember when Trump was treating our allies

  • 5:01
  • like that one friend who never chips in for pizza? Well, Biden's been busy mending fences
  • and making new friends. Harris made sure to mention that 'under Biden's leadership,
  • NATO has gained two new members despite earlier doubts about its relevance.' Take that, Putin!
  • But here's where it gets really good. Harris dropped some numbers that would make any
  • statistician swoon. 'Biden's track record includes creating 15 million American jobs and over 800,000
  • manufacturing jobs.' That's more jobs than there are excuses in Trump's arsenal! And speaking of
  • Trump, Harris didn't miss the chance to throw some shade. She pointed out that while Trump was busy
  • playing outsourcing bingo, 'Biden has brought manufacturing back' to the good ol' US of A.
  • Now, I know what you're thinking. 'But what about all those amazing promises Trump made?' Well,
  • funny you should ask. Harris had a field day with Trump's unfulfilled promises. It's
  • like he thinks being President is like playing The Sims – just click a button
  • and poof! Things happen. But in the real world, actions speak louder than tweets.
  • Harris didn't pull any punches when it came to Trump's flip-flopping. She called
  • him out for his lack of clear stances on critical issues, like a woman's right to

  • 6:00
  • make decisions about her own body. It's like trying to nail jello to a wall – every time
  • you think you've got him pinned down, he slithers away with another vague statement.
  • Alright, we've seen the fireworks, but now it's time to peek behind the curtain
  • and see how Kamala Harris lit those fuses. This wasn't just a debate - it
  • was a masterclass in political combat, and Harris was the teacher.
  • So how did she do it? Well, first off, Harris came prepared. She wasn't just winging it like
  • some orange-tinted reality TV star we know. No, she had her facts locked and loaded, ready to fire
  • at a moment's notice. It was like watching a chess grandmaster, always thinking three moves ahead.
  • But here's the kicker - Harris didn't just rely on cold, hard facts. She knew that to
  • really get through to people, you need to tug on those heartstrings too. She mixed her rational
  • arguments with emotional appeals faster than Trump mixes his metaphors. One minute
  • she's throwing out job creation numbers, the next she's painting a picture of a dystopian
  • future where women's rights are a thing of the past. Talk about a rollercoaster ride!
  • And let's talk about her rhetorical skills for a hot second. Harris has a
  • way of redirecting the conversation that would make a master illusionist jealous.

  • 7:02
  • Trump would start rambling about, I don't know, the size of his hands or something,
  • and Harris would swoop in like a verbal ninja, steering the talk back to the real
  • issues. It was like watching a matador gracefully dodging a very confused bull.
  • But here's where Harris really showed her debate chops. She managed to frame this whole election
  • as a choice between democracy and dictatorship. I mean, talk about raising the stakes! She pointed
  • out that Trump has 'openly stated he would act as a dictator.' Yikes! That's not exactly
  • a great campaign slogan, is it? 'Vote for me, I'll be your friendly neighborhood dictator!'
  • Harris didn't stop there, though. She went for the jugular, highlighting how Trump couldn't even keep
  • the support of his own former VP. She said, 'Trump has no support from his own former Vice President,

  • 8:02
  • Mike Pence.' Ouch! When your own right-hand man jumps ship, you know you're in trouble.
  • But perhaps Harris's most effective strategy was how she kept hammering
  • home the importance of substance over style. She stressed that this debate,
  • and by extension this election, isn't about who can put on the flashiest show. It's about
  • who can actually get stuff done. She emphasized 'the importance of Biden's long-term performance
  • over Trump's showmanship.' It's like she was saying, 'Sure, Trump might be good at
  • playing the part of a president on TV, but Biden's the one actually doing the job.'
  • So Harris delivered a masterclass in political combat, but what happened once the dust settled?
  • Well, let's just say the aftermath was about as calm as a cat in a room full of rocking chairs.
  • The media circus kicked into high gear faster than you can say 'fake news.' Every talking head from
  • here to Timbuktu had an opinion, and boy were they ready to share it. It was like watching a
  • bunch of seagulls fight over a french fry, except the french fry was Harris's debate performance.
  • Now, you'd think after watching Harris turn Trump's arguments into Swiss cheese,
  • the media would be singing her praises from the rooftops. But hold onto your hats, folks,

  • 9:01
  • because it wasn't all sunshine and rainbows. Some Democratic lawmakers
  • were apparently wringing their hands over Biden's performance. One even called it
  • a 'disaster,' while another described it as a 'train wreck.' Ouch! Talk about friendly fire!
  • But Harris wasn't having any of that negativity. She came out swinging,
  • reminding everyone that it's not about who can put on the best show,
  • but who can actually get stuff done. She pointed out that the debate performance
  • shouldn't overshadow 'the last three and a half years of Biden's achievements,
  • such as negotiating bipartisan deals and upgrading infrastructure.' Take that, naysayers!
  • Meanwhile, social media was blowing up like a volcano of hot takes. Twitter was on fire
  • with hashtags faster than Trump could misspell 'covfefe.' People were talking about Harris's
  • takedown of Trump's statements like it was the plot of the latest blockbuster movie. Abortion

  • 10:01
  • rights, election integrity, January 6th - you name it, people were tweeting about it.
  • But here's where it gets really interesting. Harris's debate performance didn't just make
  • waves - it made tsunamis. She managed to shine a spotlight on Trump's refusal to disavow the
  • events of January 6th and his wishy-washy stance on crucial issues. It was like she
  • had a giant magnifying glass and was using it to burn holes in Trump's already shaky credibility.
  • And let's not forget about the international scene. While Trump was busy playing 'who's
  • the bestest dictator' with his authoritarian pals, Harris was out there highlighting Biden's
  • diplomatic chops. She painted a picture of Biden as the kind of guy who actually commands respect
  • on the world stage. You know, instead of being the guy world leaders laugh at behind his back.
  • The public reaction? Well, it was about as divided as a pizza at a
  • Weight Watchers meeting. Trump's base, predictably, stuck to him like barnacles
  • on a sinking ship. But for everyone else? Harris's performance just reinforced what
  • they already suspected - that Trump's about as reliable as a chocolate teapot.

  • 11:14
  • So the debate wrapped up, but the political aftershocks? They're still rumbling through
  • Washington like bad Mexican food through Trump's digestive system. This wasn't just
  • a one-night stand of political theater - it's gonna have some serious long-term consequences.
  • Let's talk about the elephant in the room - or should I say, the donkey?
  • Harris's debate performance didn't just leave Trump with a verbal black eye,
  • it might've actually moved the needle with voters. I mean, who would've thought
  • that calling out lies and highlighting actual achievements could sway people? Crazy, right?
  • Now, I know what you're thinking - 'But polls are about as reliable as a weather
  • forecast in Florida!' Fair point. But word on the street is that Harris's takedown of
  • Trump's flip-flopping on abortion rights got some folks' attention. It's like she held up a mirror
  • to Trump's wishy-washy stance, and surprise surprise, people didn't like what they saw.
  • And speaking of not liking what they see, let's talk about campaign strategies. You

  • 12:01
  • can bet your bottom dollar that both sides are gonna be scrambling to adjust after
  • this debate. The Biden camp? They're probably high-fiving each other silly,
  • ready to double down on Harris's 'substance over style' approach. Meanwhile, Trump's
  • team is probably huddled in a corner, trying to figure out how to spin his performance.
  • 'He was just testing the microphone with all those weird noises, honest!'
  • But here's where it gets really interesting. This debate might've just changed the whole
  • game when it comes to political discourse. Harris showed that you can actually call out
  • lies without setting your own pants on fire. It's like she found the reset button on the BS-o-meter.
  • Now, I'm not saying we're suddenly gonna see politicians start telling
  • the truth left and right. Let's not get crazy here. But maybe, just maybe,
  • we might see a shift towards actually talking about real issues. You know,
  • instead of arguing about hand size or who can drink water the best.
  • And let's not forget about the international impact. While Trump was busy trying to remember
  • which countries he hasn't insulted yet, Harris was out there reminding everyone
  • that America can actually be a respected player on the world stage. It's like she was saying,

  • 13:00
  • 'Hey world, remember when we used to be cool? We can do that again!'
  • But perhaps the biggest ramification of all? This debate might've just lit a fire under the
  • collective butts of the American people. Harris didn't just expose Trump's lies, she laid out the
  • stakes of this election in crystal clear terms. It's democracy versus dictatorship, folks. And
  • if that doesn't get people off their couches and into voting booths, I don't know what will.
  • This debate was just the opening act. The real show? It's gonna play out in living rooms, water
  • coolers, and voting booths across America. And let me tell you, it's gonna be one hell of a ride.
