On Monday, June 24, 2024, the MV Dali ship which had crashed into he Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore, MD, causing the collapse of the bridge, was finally towed away from the Seagirt Terminal and out of the Port Of Baltimore for it's journey to Norfolk, Va. There the Dali will be offloaded and repaired. The NTSB investigation continues into the causes of the electrical problems that led to this collision and the Baltimore bridge collapse.
The Dali ship was stuck in Baltimore for just under 3 months, since the March 26, 2024 collision with the Key bridge.

- well the motor vessel di finally left
- the Port of Baltimore this morning under
- the guidance of four tugboats and this
- was all captured live as it happens from
- Channel 11's Sky 11
- helicopter and we're looking at one last
- fly around lookover of the Del as she's
- 0:19
- pulled away from the dock side there at
- 0:21
- the seagert terminal and then what a
- 0:23
- beautiful view this is with the city of
- 0:26
- Baltimore Skyline in the background on a
- 0:28
- beautiful sunny day as she departs for
- 0:31
- Norfolk Virginia and right here the
- 0:34
- dolly comes back almost full circle
- 0:36
- right back into the middle of the
- 0:38
- channel Where it All Began where she
- 0:40
- crashed into to that left side Bridge
- 0:43
- Pier that was supporting the bridge to
- 0:45
- begin with see it's just about there now
- 0:47
- that Tugboat that's pulling it look
- 0:49
- right above it and you'll see the
- 0:51
- remnants of that bridge
- 0:53
- Pier just sticking up out of the water
- 0:56
- it's an exact duplicate of the one that
- 0:58
- you see that's in front of the Del ship
- 1:00
- right now that looks like the big
- triangles sticking up out of the water
- so right where dolly is right this very
- second is where it should have been on
- the night of March 26th 2024 when it
- actually hit the other Bridge Pier
- support and then doy finally makes it
- through the channel there the fully
- cleared 700t wide channel that was
- restored by the unified command back on
- Monday June 10th exactly two weeks ago
- after being clogged for a couple of
- months and then you can see Del is
- 1:35
- clearing the Fort McHenry the little
- 1:37
- Island right
- 1:38
- there now you can see dolly is smacked
- 1:41
- de in the center of that 700 ft wide
- 1:44
- Channel but keep in mind though there's
- 1:47
- actually I believe 1100 to 1200 ft in
- 1:49
- between the two sets of pylons there so
- 1:53
- you can see how narrow of a distance it
- 1:55
- missed going through by when it actually
- 1:58
- collided into to that left side set of
- 2:02
- the bridge supports just a few more feet
- over to the right and it would have
- cleared even the stream time live camera
- got a nice view of it CU as you know
- that camera's been fixated on this
- bridge the whole time and this is the
- there cameras that actually captured the
- original collapse of the bridge when
- Dolly crashed into it so now here's that
- 2:23
- very similar view now of Dolly coming
- 2:27
- back up only this time it's going to be
- 2:29
- successful so there she is right at the
- 2:31
- scene right there where it originally
- 2:34
- crashed into the bottom of that bridge
- 2:37
- Pier support there so there's the view
- 2:39
- that we had seen for probably a couple
- 2:42
- of months there now now Delia is just
- 2:46
- effortlessly
- 2:48
- gliding right by there because it's in
- 2:51
- the center of the channel this time and
- 2:53
- it has power this time and you could see
- 2:56
- all of the work they had to do there to
- 2:57
- prep it there's a big tarp there that's
- 2:58
- covering the big gaping hole in front of
- 3:01
- the hle as they limp it down and then
- into the Chesapeake Bay and then down
- into norick but you can see I was
- surprised that they really didn't cut
- off as many of the concrete pillars
- there as as I expected to so you know
- there was one big length of it that was
- 3:18
- hanging off the side of the ship and
- 3:20
- they did cut it off about a week or so
- 3:22
- ago and then um they did absolutely
- 3:25
- nothing and I'm like wondering what's
- 3:26
- going on what are they going to do now
- 3:28
- and then they announced a few days ago
- 3:29
- that were going to move the DOL so
- 3:31
- that's why they didn't all they wanted
- 3:33
- to do I guess was just make things a
- 3:34
- little bit more safer for it to make the
- 3:36
- trip down there and then send her off on
- 3:38
- her way now you remember about a month
- 3:40
- ago I showed you Captain Andy's awesome
- 3:42
- Drone footage here over the dolly
- 3:44
- showing that the roadway was still on
- 3:46
- there on May 25th and then a week later
- 3:49
- it was already gone but you can see how
- 3:51
- the concrete pillar was hanging over the
- 3:54
- edge there and once they cleared all of
- 3:56
- this debris so once again Mark over a
- 3:59
- dead run Marine photography came through
- 4:01
- and he showed us the problem see how it
- was hanging off but they cut the pillar
- and this is what they were left with and
- I thought that they were going to just
- keep on going but apparently they
- decided not to and so here Captain Andy
- had showed us on this Drone footage how
- they had brought some heavy equipment
- and set it up there on the deck of the
- Del there and there's like some cherry
- 4:25
- pickers they brought in there and then
- 4:27
- what we noticed was that there was some
- 4:29
- crushed containers
- 4:31
- underneath um where they removed the
- 4:33
- roadway and you remember the they cut
- 4:35
- off part of that pillar so we didn't
- 4:36
- even know that was there until they
- 4:37
- removed the roadway and here's where
- 4:39
- they made that cut into the pillar they
- 4:41
- just sliced run right through it nice
- 4:43
- and clean probably with one of those
- 4:45
- Diamond cables or diamond saw Diamond
- 4:47
- chain whatever they use to do it it's
- 4:49
- some big tool that they run through
- 4:50
- there it's it's like on a big cable type
- 4:52
- thing and then look at the scale here of
- 4:54
- these guys walking around how big the
- 4:56
- top of this bridge Pier cap is and so
- 5:00
- that's probably why they decided not to
- mess with it here let's just get it down
- to Norfolk when they're doing the
- repairs and we'll mess with it there and
- then here is that piece that they cut
- off of the pillar that was overhanging
- off the bow of the Del and then look how
- big it is in size compared to these guys
- on the crane barge right next to this
- little
- barge and so apparently this is all they
- decided to do just kind of clear off the
- deck make it safer and then let's get
- Dolly the back out of
- 5:32
- Dodge and then a few hours later Dolly
- 5:35
- approached the Chesapeake Bay Bridge so
- 5:37
- here's the footage that was captured by
- 5:40
- Washington DC's Fox 5 channel from their
- 5:44
- helicopter and look at this another
- 5:46
- beautiful sunny day out there too as it
- 5:49
- went under the double Bridges there and
- 5:52
- here it is I sped it up for you as it
- 5:54
- made it perfectly under the bridge there
- 5:57
- without incident damn man it got to tell
- 6:00
- you it looks pretty tall though looks
- like it almost barely cleared it but you
- know at that kind of scale it's probably
- a lot more distance than you think but
- look at that beautiful view once it
- cleared it now as an abundance of
- caution the police had closed the
- Chesapeake Bay Bridge before the Del
- 6:17
- passed under it so now they're allowing
- 6:18
- the traffic to flow again so you can see
- 6:20
- the stream of the first cars emerging
- 6:23
- from one side and on the other side
- 6:25
- they're already Crossing so they didn't
- 6:27
- wait long at all as soon as crossed
- 6:30
- underneath let's open those Lanes up and
- 6:33
- then one of the cams built onto the Bay
- 6:36
- Bridge captured Del sailing underneath
- 6:38
- it so I sped this up for you eight times
- 6:42
- and there she goes right under both
- 6:44
- sections of the bridge look how close
- 6:46
- that is
- 6:47
- oh so vessel finder shows us where the
- 6:51
- path that dolly is taking to get down
- 6:53
- there so so you can see here it left
- 6:55
- here about 8:00 this morning at
- 6:57
- Baltimore passed through the key brige
- 6:59
- here and then later on in the afternoon
- 7:03
- as I showed you and then later on in the
- afternoon as I showed you it passed by
- Annapolis and where the Chesapeake Bay
- Bridge is I showed you that so it's now
- long past that and if you look at the
- little table here it says that it should
- be arriving there tomorrow at 1:00 so
- it's 13 hours from now okay so if we
- 7:23
- zoom out to see where we're at so right
- 7:25
- now it's sort of in the middle of the
- 7:26
- Chesapeake Bay
- 7:30
- and it's going to come all the way down
- 7:32
- here by Newport News in
- 7:35
- norfol in
- 7:38
- Portsmith right in this area here so
- 7:41
- it's going to be coming down here now
- 7:43
- the news reports are saying that when it
- 7:47
- gets here into Norfolk that it's going
- 7:49
- to go here to the Virginia International
- 7:52
- Gateway right here and unload 1,00 of
- 7:55
- the containers I don't know why it's not
- 7:57
- unloading all of them I don't know what
- 8:00
- the what their plan is and what the laws
- are because I thought I saw a report a
- few weeks ago that said something like
- once it's been loaded onto a ship it
- can't be loaded into another US city or
- something like that they might have
- given special permission or maybe there
- really isn't a law like that but we know
- 8:17
- that it's supposed to unload some there
- 8:20
- and that it's supposed to then turn
- 8:22
- around and go over here and then all the
- 8:25
- way over to here to the noruk
- 8:27
- international terminals where they're
- 8:29
- supposedly going to do the repairs so
- 8:32
- that's the preliminary report that we've
- 8:34
- seen that's probably subject to change
- 8:37
- and if you look it's real close to where
- 8:39
- the naval shipyards are right here I
- 8:42
- don't think they're going to allow any
- 8:44
- drones to be flown there as you know
- 8:45
- Captain Andy over at the monarc and
- 8:47
- mullet channel uh loves to have his
- 8:49
- drones up and I'm not sure if he could
- 8:51
- get in there tight enough or not to be
- 8:55
- able to show anything that this whole
- 8:58
- airspace here is likely restricted due
- 9:00
- to the naval presence right there so
- this was the scene that all of the
- regular ships had to deal with
- throughout the months of April and May
- as they were recovering all of the parts
- of the bridge debris from the bottom of
- the Patapsco River so here you can see
- this big old cruise ship here going
- right by as the chesse 1000 Crane is
- pulling up one of those last two
- 9:25
- gigantic pieces now I want you to take a
- 9:28
- look at this piece of incredible video
- 9:29
- given to us by the unified command this
- 9:31
- is the very first up close and personal
- 9:34
- view of the bottom of the bridge Pier
- 9:37
- that Del crashed into so these are the
- 9:39
- four pillars that were sheared through
- 9:42
- by Del now I actually only believe that
- 9:44
- DOL might have sheared one or two of
- 9:46
- them and then of course the other two
- 9:47
- collapsed just simply because of the
- 9:49
- lack of support they couldn't handle the
- 9:52
- weight but look at this nice good in
- 9:54
- front of your face Crystal Clear video
- 9:58
- of what the entire
- 10:00
- bottom of this bridge Pier looked like
- and you can see the wood doesn't really
- do much uh especially when the Hall of
- the ship is overhanging and it went past
- it now had they built something around
- this had they made it make a wider
- cement surrounding these pillars it
- might have been okay then cuz as it is
- you know Dolly only just Billy hit it by
- a few feet and the salver spent like the
- 10:24
- first two weeks of June really going
- 10:26
- crazy pulling up these last few pieces
- 10:29
- out of the main channel so remember they
- 10:32
- had the channel expanded up to 400 ft
- 10:34
- but now they need to require those
- 10:37
- other now they need to reacquire those
- 10:39
- other 300 ft back to complete the full
- 10:42
- channel in time for Fleet Week that came
- 10:45
- up last week actually and so here they
- 10:47
- were pulling up that last little piece
- 10:49
- of truss now on one of my videos my last
- 10:51
- video on the trusses I thought that that
- 10:54
- was the last piece but it wasn't this
- 10:56
- was the tip of the iceberg piece that
- 10:58
- was next to it I thought it was just a
- 10:59
- small little piece but man the more they
- 11:02
- pulled this thing up you could see what
- all was coming off of it and they
- actually had to use their torches to cut
- different sections of the roadway that
- was still clinging to it that wanted to
- come up with it and they just didn't
- have the capacity for it so here they
- are welding away and then they hauled it
- all off to Sparrow's Point and then here
- you can see on Monday June 10th is when
- the army or core of engineer declared
- that the entire 00 ft wide
- channel was
- 11:33
- recovered and it's fully operational
- 11:36
- again so you recall once they moved to
- 11:39
- the dolly on May 20th right here they're
- 11:41
- saying here in the press release they
- 11:44
- gave the access to that channel was
- 11:46
- increased up to 400
- 11:48
- ft so that pretty much allowed any kind
- 11:51
- of traffic to go through there at that
- 11:53
- point but now that they have fully
- 11:56
- operational 700t wide Channel we can go
- 11:59
- back back to the two-way traffic again
- 12:00
- that they always had and this was just
- in time for Fleet Week folks and check
- this out you know this is interesting
- because I live here in Fort Lauderdale
- Florida and this right here is the USS
- Fort Lauderdale showing up I sent that
- boat up there personally myself so this
- ship right here is stationed in norfol
- Virginia and look it's going right by
- the little section of the pier base
- where the dolly had crashed into the
- bridge right right below there with a
- claws
- hanging so what a view that
- was so of course I will keep you up to
- date with the NTSB investigation into
- the dolly incident and the crash into
- the Francis Scott Key bridge there in
- Baltimore and thank you so much for
- joining us again here today folks and
- we'll see all of you on the next one
