Denys Davydov seems to be someone who does serious thinking about the Ukraine war and all its complexities. What he is saying at this time (Aoril 4th 2024) is very sobering, but at the same time very credible.
I am 84 years old ... I was born in the early days of WWII and lived in a near suburb of London. My parents lived through the Battle of Britain and severl years of nazi bombing by the Luftwaffe. I was too young to be scared ... I understood that buildings got destroyed, but did not understand anythiong about people getting hurt and killed!
During my working life I got to understand quite a lot about bad people. There are plenty of bad people in general society and in the business community ... but there is a much higher proportionof bad people at the top of society and the top of business.
The good news is that bad people are out-numbered by good people ... but the power wielded by bad people is way out of proportion compared to their actual numbers. This oughgt to be good news ... but for some reason the news is way more in favor of bad than it is about good. The media uses the guidance ...'if it bleeds, it leads' ... so the general public gets a view of the world that is fundamentally different from reality.
People like Donald Trump are good at messaging, not becaue the message is right or makes any sense ... but he builds on outrageous, and the stupider the better. A lot of people are 'amused' or 'entertained' by his antics. From my perspective an individual like Trump has no business anywhere near the top of politics. Sadly, it reflects the deep dumbness of the electorate in the USA, but not only in the USA, in many other countries around the world. How else do you explain Brexit in the UK ... for example?
I am furious about the tragic delay in funding military assistance from the USA to Ukraine that is going on in the USA at the present time. There are so many parallels with the US action in the early days of WWII. Most younger Americans have no idea that WWII started in 1939, about two years before Pearl Harbour and the declaration of war by the USA.
