The performance of the Ukraine military and the Ukrainian society in general has been impressive since the Russian aggression two years ago.
International support for Ukraine has been quite good ... but that is a rather lukewarm assessment.
I wish it was possible to report that the 'West' ... the democracies of the 'Free World' ... have given a huge amount of support to Ukraine in its war with Russia and a lot more will be coming. But instead the report has to be that almost every country in the free 'West' is doing something like the minimum it get away with rather than something that will certainly end Russia's aggression once and for all!
It is good to be able to report that the Ukrainian military seems to be much better than the Russian military. But the fact that a military that maybe as much a ten times 'better' than the Russian military is in a stalemate because of a shortage of essential supplies ... like guns and ammunition ... is pretty disgusting.
The recent hold-up of US financial and material support by the Republican controlled Congress is an appalling state of affairs ... somewhat reminiscent of the period before Pearl Harbour when the US refused to engage against the threat of Nazi domination in Europe and likely worse in the early years of WWII. I was a young child in the UK ... actually in London ... during the war years and I have been having flash-backs to that time whenever I see images of the urban devastation that the Ukrainians are facing at the hands of the Russians. I was too young to understand that people in London were getting killed ... but I can only imagine what my parents were going through!
Yes ... the Americans eventually got it together after Pearl Harbour and in the end WWII was won. I don't think the time dynamic is going to be the same now as it was 80+ years ago.
Frankly ... I am appalled at the delays that are in play in the American Congress ... and disgusted.
I really don't know what to do to get those with political power to do the right thing ... and to do it before it is too late!
