I have been very unhappy with most of the 'mainstream' reporters in the United States for quite a long time. Part of this is my own advancing age, and a reduced interest and ability to be flexible ... but a lot has to do with the organizational 'egendas' of the organizations reporting the news. I really don't want Bezos the controlling owner of Amazon and the owner of the Washington Post filtering the news that gets published. My view is that Biden's legislative agenda was very good ... in fact better than anything that the United States has had since the era of Presidents Eisenhower, Kemmedy and Johnson. For me ... it boggles my mind that the Democrats lost the 2024 Presidential Election to a fatally flawed human being by the name of Donald Trump. A political system that makes such a thing able to happen is a huge problem in itself! Breaking things is relatively easy ... fixing them is a whole lot harder. Interesting things are starting to happen ...more important, many of these things are consequential. My hope is that Trump's sordid past will bring him down. Sadly, the American system does not make that easy! In the bigger scheme of things, the United States is really quite inconsequential! The US total population is only around 350 million people. Contrast this with India at around 1.46 billion people and China at not much different at around 1.41 billion people. Europe with the UK, Canada, Australia and other like-minded countries are also significantly more influential in the modern world than the modern USA under the 'pea-brained' Donald Trump! I am British ... born in 1940 at the beginning of WWII. As a young person, I learned a lot about the importance of WWII and the sacrifices that needed to be made for 'the Allies' to defeat the 'Axix' powers. Most Americans and especially young Americans have no idea about any of the major reasons why winning WWII was essential for US quality of life in a complex modern world. magger Republicans after they again try to hold our country hostage through the government spending negotiations and they try to shut down our government which would have resulted in cataclysmic consequences Maga Was Defeated and I want to show you President Biden's press conference where he discusses what went down but here's the broader point that I want to make when I show you these clips I'm going to show you a few clips of President Biden and one of Pete budigen you may disagree with President Biden and bootage on a lot of issues and that is perfectly acceptable but the most important thing that I want to convey here at the Midas 1:00 touch Network are that these are adults in the room in a mega Republican world of Donald Trump's threatening to execute American Military generals of Matt Gates of Lauren bobert's a Marjorie Taylor greens of Paul gosars of Jim Jordans of James comers I could go on and on and on but it would take 20 videos an hour long to go through all of these Mega Republicans I want to juxtapose that to what is going on here in the white house with professional competent compassionate people and I appreciate President Biden just slamming these Mega Republicans for what they did to our country what they continue to try to do to our country so in this first clip here is a press conference that President Biden gave earlier in the day where he says you know what where I come from when you make a deal you stick to that deal play the clip you know where I 2:01 come from when you make a deal you give your word you keep it you give your word you say I'm going to do what I said I'm going to do and you do it you keep it you keep your word and I expect the Republicans speaking republics in Congress to honor their word and keep the deal they made months ago when they try to threaten us with almost International bankruptcy by not paying our debts that includes comments made for fully funded services for our veterans and fully fund the needs of Defense of our nation you know protect the trans we have transformational Investments we're already making to deal with the climate crisis we are you know protect medicare's ability and power to negotiate over prescription drugs we pay the highest prescription drug prices in the world we're finally making progress and here President Biden says I am sick and tired of the brinksmanship of these juvenile games being played by magger Republicans enough is enough play the clip frankly I'm sick and tired 3:02 I'm sick and tired of the brinksmanship and so are the American people I've been doing this you all point out to me a lot a long time I've never quite seen a republican Congress or any Congress act like this this spring Mega Republicans brought us to the brink threatening to fall on America's debt for the first time in over 200 years and it would have caused a gigantic World crisis and I'd hope both at home and abroad but we reached an agreement we shook hands said here's the deal well now this fall the mag extremist once again have brought us to the brink this time to a government shutdown and going back on the deal they made months ago not keeping their word enough is enough is enough this is not that complicated the brinkmanship has to end and there should be another there shouldn't be another crisis there's no excuse for another crisis consequently I 4:02 strongly urge my Republican friends in congress not to wait don't waste time as you did all summer pass a year-long budget agreement honor the deal we made a few months ago we have the strongest we have the strongest economy in the world today the strongest economy in the world today we have more to do but we are the indispensable nation in the world internationally and domestically in terms of our economy let's act like it let's act like it stop the games get to work make sure the American people and our allies and friends around the world know what we're doing and while President Biden is of course satisfied that a deal was done and government will be funded for at least 45 more days and it was a relatively clean continuing resolution that passed both Chambers and was signed into law by President Biden as he says 5:00 here we should not be in this place and that we should not be here in the first place here play this clip as will long-term Disaster Recovery monies for communities devastated by wildfires superstorms and droughts Social Security Administration will be fully funded which means that we'll be able to fully serve the needs of the American people and the elderly but folks the truth is we shouldn't be here in the first place we shouldn't have gotten her in the first place it's time to end governing by crisis and keep your word when you give it in the Congress a few months ago after a long negotiation between myself and the Republican Speaker of the House Representatives we came to agree on a budget agreement precisely to avoid a manufactured crisis that we just witnessed but the last few days and weeks extreme Republicans tried to walk away from that deal voting for deep drastic spending cuts from 30 to 80 6:00 percent that would have been devastating for millions of Americans they failed again they failed again and we stopped them and of course one of the things that were left out of this continuing resolution that left many upset including myself but I said look there's a broader plan here is that there was no further military funding or Aid to Ukraine in their defense from the unlawful Invasion by Vladimir Putin and Russia but here President Biden says I fully expect that Kevin McCarthy is going to keep his commitment and provide the necessary funding to Ukraine play this clip although the speaker an overwhelming majority of the Congress have steadfastly supporting Ukraine to defend itself against the aggression and brutality of the Russians attack on women and children in addition to the military in Ukraine there's no Ukraine funding this agreement despite that I did not believe we could let millions of Americans go through the 7:01 pain of a government shutdown but let's be clear I hope my friends the other side keep their word about support for Ukraine they said they're going to support Ukraine in a separate vote we cannot under any circumstance allow American support for Ukraine to be interrupted I fully expect the speaker to keep his commitments to secure the passage and support needed to help Ukraine as they defend themselves against aggression and brutality and folks you know overwhelmingly there's overwhelming number of Republicans and Democrats in both the house and the Senate who support Ukraine let's vote on it and I want to assure our American Allies and the American people and the people of Ukraine that you can count on our support we will not walk away the vast majority of both parties I'll say it again Democrats and Republicans Senate in the house support helping Ukraine and the brutal aggression that has been thrust upon them by Russia stop playing games get this done so 8:02 President Biden was asked during this press conference are you confident that Kevin McCarthy will keep future deals with you can you engage can you deal with Kevin McCarthy in good faith and President Biden responded well we just made a deal when it comes to Ukraine funding so we made that deal and we will see it's brilliant by President Biden play this clip Mr President are you going to be able to trust speaker McCarthy when the next deal comes around we just made one about Ukraine so we'll find out but are you worried that he is going to be forced by fellow Republicans to back away from any deal he comes with you [Music] hope this experience for the speaker has been one of a personal Revelations 9:03 I'm not being facetious and here President Biden has asked are you concerned with America's standing throughout the world based on the behavior of Congress and what's going on and President Biden says it perfectly here a perfect mic drop moment President Biden goes I'm not concerned about what my Administration is doing we have a great deal of international respect yeah with the Maga Republican doing well that's a utter embarrassment play the clip concern about America's reputation on the world stage given the level of fruitsmanship we've seen this year uh based on the mega Republican report yes based on what my Administration is doing now thank you finally from earlier in the day as well I want to show you this clip of the interview with the transportation secretary Pete bootage himself a military vet and he was asked on one of 10:01 the morning shows to respond to Donald Trump threatening to execute the former top military general in the United States General Mark milley and Buddha judge's response was Pitch Perfect and he explained look I don't want to try to give Donald Trump more attention but where his conduct is so horrific the way he treats our military with such disrespect we need to call it out play the clip alarming not surprising but give it you've served in your long time public servant what is your reaction to that the level of disrespect for the American Military not to mention for for the general is is both shocking and not shocking I mean look this is part of a lifelong pattern with the former president that I would argue was first displayed when he uh faked a disability in order to avoid having to go to Vietnam and allowed I assume some working class person to go in his place 11:00 and has continued ever since made a name for himself by uh under you know basically saying that that he did not respect John McCain because he was a war hero and you know look a lot of this obviously is to get attention and uh you hesitate to reward that on the other hand we we do in fact still have some boundaries that matter in this country and one of them is that our regard for the military and our respect for the military is non-partisan it's non-political and it's Universal and that is especially important because that's part of how the military does their job I knew every time I put on that uniform every time I went to work every time I got into a vehicle every time I I went outside the wire that I was with men and women who were serving and supporting each other and responsive to a chain of command that was not about politics that did not uh did not break down because of our political differences this undermines that it threatens that and it threatens it at a time when we need those institutions 12:01 that are still at least somewhat outside of the chaos that the last Administration sewed and that some extreme uh House Republicans are selling as we speak we need what the military has to offer by way of nonpartisan stability more than ever and I would say General Millie's been a Class Act and how he's dealt with it and folks those are adults in the room as I've said before do I agree with President Biden on every issue do I agree with bootage on every issue do I agree with Democrats on every issue no but that's how leaders sound that's how leaders conduct themselves I am sick and tired of this Maga Republican traveling fascist circus show it is utterly embarrassing what's going on with these Maga Republicans they should be utterly ashamed of themselves but they have no shame at all we will
