This is a 'marketing video' and as such not as credible as a purely academic presentation ... but there is a lot in this presentation that is thought provoking and worth taking to heart.
One of the things I like about this presentation is the idea that there are many many things that could turn out to be 'black swan' events ... and that there are also many possibilities that multiple 'black swan' events could happen together and be catastrophic.
I have many 'grumbles' about this presentation, and especially the fact that there is rather little recognition of the huge potential for good and for betterment that exists because of the development of amazing technology over the past decades. The utility and productivity of technology has improved by an order of magnitude ... or multiple orders of magnitude ... over the past half century, yet progress for most people on the planet has been rather modest. This is a massive disfunction and yet ignored completely by the presenter in this video.
Of course, this is the foundational idea behind TrueValueMetrics. What we want to do is to rework the dominant conventional financial accounting and reporting for business activities so that a similar system can emerge that can be applied to all actors, all activities, all products, and all places in a coherent, comprehensive, useful and easy manner.
