Global economic outlook 2022
Dear Peter,
Published today, EIU’s latest global economic outlook report explores which countries in the G7 will be most and least affected by the war in Ukraine.
Download here
Russia’s invasion of Ukraine will weigh on growth in G7 economies in 2022 through the impact of Western sanctions, higher global prices for commodities and further supply chain disruptions. As a result, we now expect global growth to stand at 3.4% this year (down from a previous forecast of 3.9%).
Here are the topics covered in the report:
- Europe: trade and energy shock’s double whammy
- North America: (even) higher inflation in sight
- Japan: only a minimal hit to growth
Our special report also examines the consequences of war on the Russian and Ukrainian economies. We believe that Ukraine will register a 46.5% recession this year amid human casualties and the mass destruction of infrastructure.

Agathe Demarais
