Too dangerous - remove Trump Inbox Annie Leonard, Greenpeace Unsubscribe 3:11 PM (33 minutes ago) to me Peter- Yesterday’s failed coup exposes the deep threat of allowing Trump to remain in office. He must be removed now – we cannot wait. Impeach Now Tell Congress: Trump must be immediately impeached and removed from office. SEND YOUR MESSAGE Yesterday’s failed coup and violent raid on the United States Capitol by Trump’s white supremacist insurrectionists made it abundantly clear that there are two sides to this moment in history – representative democracy and fascism. That’s why we are demanding those in power publicly take a side by holding Trump, the GOP, and all those involved accountable, and calling for an end to this authoritarianism. Message your Member of Congress and Senators to demand they immediately impeach Trump and remove him from office, and that his enablers be held accountable before he violently threatens our democracy again. This anti-democratic attack on representative government was intentionally coordinated by Trump and his violent right-wing supporters in order to prevent every vote from being counted. It is a desperate attempt by the violent right wing to hold on to power at all costs. Those responsible must be held accountable. Americans have a right to peaceful protest. They do not have a right to violently storm the United States Capitol in order to stop the peaceful transfer of power. Along with Trump’s immediate impeachment and removal, the House must conduct a full investigation into those who invaded Congress on January 6th, the security response that allowed it, and censure Trump’s Republican enablers. The Capitol Police were negligently unprepared and allowed these dangerous Trump loyalists to enter the Capitol and terrorize the people inside, which stands in stark contrast to the brutal treatment of Black Lives Matter protesters earlier this year. The undeniable discrepancy between how the police are treating these violent white supremacists and how they have treated the Black Lives Matter protesters over the past decade shows that law enforcement is complicit. Send a message to your Congressperson and Senators to demand Trump be impeached and removed from office, and his enablers in law enforcement and the Republican Party be held accountable. Greenpeace history is steeped in nonviolent direct action and our work to ensure that the right to peaceful protest is preserved does not stop here. In fact, it might get harder. What we’ve seen in the past is lawmakers using violent right wing riots as an excuse to restrict lawful protest. We have to make sure that in the days ahead, these specific perpetrators and instigators are held accountable without infringing on our constitutionally protected right to protest. But beyond this dark moment for American democracy, we know that a new dawn is approaching. Congress certified the president-elect, and in less than 2 weeks a new administration will be sworn in. The Senate is changing hands. They must ensure our democracy does not face a threat like this ever again by passing strong democratic reforms like the For the People Act (HR1). But we can’t do that unless we stop Trump and all of his enablers right now. For a green, peaceful, and just future, Annie Leonard Executive Director, Greenpeace USA P.S. Trump is too dangerous to remain in office a single day more. Tell Congress to impeach and remove him immediately. Greenpeace never takes a dime from corporations or governments. The violent raid on the United States Capitol by Trump and GOP insurrectionists made it abundantly clear that there are two sides to this struggle — representative democracy and fascism. Greenpeace is demanding those in power publicly take a side. They must hold Trump and his enablers accountable, preserve the right to peaceful protest, and pass legislation that will put the power of our democracy back into the hands of the people. It is time for transformational democracy in America, and it must begin now. Send a message to your Congressional Representative and Senators to demand Trump be impeached and removed from office and his enablers in law enforcement and the Republican Party be held accountable. Contact Information I demand full accountability for Trump, Republican members of Congress, and law enforcement for the violent failed coup at the Capitol on January 6. 1. Donald Trump must be removed from office. The House must reconvene and pass Rep. Ilhan Omar's and Rep. Ayanna Pressley's pending Articles of Impeachment against Trump, and the Senate must convict him of inciting a riot and sedition and remove him. If Congress fails to act, those in power must use whatever legal means at their disposal, like the 25th Amendment to stop Trump from inflicting more damage. He must be barred from ever holding office again. 2. The House must reconvene and censure each member of Congress who has fanned the flames of white supremacist violence and has participated in the effort to stop the certification of the electoral college. 3. The House must conduct a full investigation of the security response that allowed the invasion of Congress on January 6th. Capitol Police failed to prevent white nationalist insurrectionists from entering the Capitol and terrorizing the people inside, which stands in stark contrast to the brutal treatment of Black Lives Matter protesters earlier this year. The insurrectionists who stormed the Capitol must also be prosecuted.
