In 1960 I had no idea that the American South had obscene apartheit, but I did know that the USA was incredibly rich compared to the rest of the world. I migrated to the USA in 1966. Fast forward several decades and too many ordinary folk in the USA have been struggling financially for decades while a relatively few have become immensely wealthy because of catastrophic economic (capitalist) leadership ... From Helene Gayle to Everyone: 02:30 PM have to make sure we don't make near term or long term as trade-offs but do our near term work with the long term view in mind so the near term builds to the long term From Bruce Montgomery to Everyone: 02:30 PM Bruce Montgomery https://www.facebook.com/groups/ChicagoESP/ 312-725-8601 You 01:33 PM My interest is the 'MANAGEMENT' of economic activity so that people (society), the environment and owners of capital can collaborate effectively to move the needle rapidly and effectively ... we manage aggressively for profit performance but not so much in very other domains. What are the metrics? What should they be? New America Events 01:41 PM Private answer Hi Peter! Thank you for your question, we will pass it along to the moderator. You 01:57 PM The modern economy has been highly profitable for major investors for decades, but increasingly dysfunctional for working folk (of every race). Some politicans have exploited this using racism as the cause of deteriorating working class wealth. In addition everyone avoids the reality that taxation has been far too low since the Reagan era and essential public services catastrophically underfunded. Better metrics are needed to make these issues more understandable. New America Events 02:01 PM Private answer Hi Peter, thank you for your thoughts! We will pass it along to the panel. |
