Bill Hall Bill Hall 3 days ago It must be about 40 years now since I spent a lot of time travelling in the HST125 power cars. It was the time when British rail had Mirlees Blackstone engines fitted into four of them as replacements for the Paxman engine. I designed the speed governor control system for the new engines. I traveled about with them monitoring the performance of the system. Much of the time was spent sat with the driver or in the trailing power car. All the engine fumes seemed to get sucked into the trailing power car so it was much better being at the front. I wish I had thought to do some video of it all. I did do lots of photos but unfortunately I can't find them now. Happy days! Deshune Morrison |
