ADD YOUR NAME Trump’s first nominee for Secretary of Labor withdrew from consideration after widespread reports revealed that he had repeatedly broken labor laws at the fast food chain he ran. His second nominee resigned earlier this year for his role in helping billionaire Jeffrey Epstein escape jail time for his 2008 conviction over sex crimes. Is the third time a charm for Trump’s Labor Department? Nope. LA Times Columnist Michael Hiltzik says Eugene Scalia “spent his entire career fighting for big businesses and against working people.” ADD YOUR NAME: Tell the Senate to OPPOSE Trump’s latest nominee to head the Department of Labor! Scalia is the son of the late Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia, who dedicated his jurisprudence to rolling back regulations that keep corporations from exploiting their workers―exactly the opposite of what you’d want in a Secretary of Labor. The apple hasn’t fallen far from the tree. The younger Scalia has:
  • Helped Walmart defeat a law that would have forced the company to pay for health care for its workers.
  • Let Casinos avoid securing tips for employees.
  • Fought Occupational Safety and Health Administration rules to protect worker safety
  • Represented a who's who of giant corporate firms, including Chevron, Viacom and Saudi Arabian oil interests.
  • Earned himself a reputation as one of Wall Street's 'go-to guys for challenging financial regulations.'
The Secretary of Labor should be a voice for workers in our government―not someone to nod when employers put their boots on our necks. ADD YOUR NAME: Tell the Senate to OPPOSE and DEFEAT Trump’s latest nominee to be Secretary of Labor! In solidarity, Mike Phelan Progress America
