PeterBurgess • a few seconds ago The United States is in better shape macro-economically and financially than it has been for a very long time but at the same time socially and politically the country is divided and dissatisfied and for very good reason. Investors have done well, but workers not so well with far too many people unable to make ends meet working far more hours than reasonable and too many people unable to find work. As long as profit performance and stock market wealth are the dominant drivers of decision making in the USA without giving much attention to social issues and environment issues the US economy will eventually lose out to places where these issues get to be treated more holistically. In some ways, a Trump economy might become more robust with improved tax policies and more efficient regulation ... but if it ignores the risks of climate change and complex economic and social disruption, the outcomes may be very damaging.
