Mark is also an economist, consultant and Adjunct Professor at both the School of Business, University of Alberta, and the Bainbridge Island Graduate Institute. He was named a “rising star” amongst international progressive economists by Adbusters magazine in 2004, and awarded the 2004 ECO Award for his work on the Genuine Progress Indicator. Genuine Wealth Inc., specializes in measuring the sustainable well-being of communities, businesses and organizations. Mark has extensive experience in the design and implementation of well-being measurement, reporting and management frameworks from his work in Alberta, Canada, the US, Europe and China. He has been a senior economic policy advisor to governments for more than 25 years on the subject of measuring and reporting on well-being, happiness and sustainability. His most recent work has been the development of the Canadian Index of Well-being (CIW) which is widely recognized as the most comprehensive well-being measurement system in the world.
