I'm assuming our mutual acquaintance Frank Wellin from TEDx has introduced you to Alan Yelsey's initiative (links pasted below). Alan certainly has a parallel resonance with our conversations. I spoke to Alan briefly right before Christmas, and did not reveal any of my skepticism for 'big', 'modern' solutions. But, as a friend of mine says about the spiritual journey, 'as long as someone is pointed roughly in the right direction' he's a supporter.

If you're in NYC the evening of Jan 9th I'd like to invite you to Diana Senechal's 'philosophy roundtable' which is presented by her 12th grade philosophy students (!) at the Columbia School for Science and Technology. Diana is an educator (and friend of Diane Ravitch) who's written an amazing book called 'Republic of Noise -- The Loss of Solitude in The Classroom and Society'. Her take on what makes for good education is just another dimension of our talks.
