As Program Director at The Resource Foundation, I advise corporate, foundation, and individual donors on their charitable contributions to nonprofit organizations in Latin America. In addition, I serve as the primary liaison between The Resource Foundation and its network of local organizations in Latin America to forge partnerships, advise on fundraising initiatives and facilitate funding opportunities from U.S. donors. Collaborated with diverse group of conference sponsors in Europe and Kenya to coordinate logistics, manage data, secure speakers, develop meeting agenda, prepare written materials and author final report. Program Development Coordinator Wind of the Spirit Immigrant Resource Center March 2008 – December 2008 (10 months) Member of management team of grassroots organization that advocates for immigration reform through community organizing, education, and building bridges with non-immigrants. Representative of organization in local and state-level coalitions and networks. Directed grant and individual donor prospecting, proposal writing and reporting as well as coordinated community based fundraising initiatives including membership campaign and special events. Intern EMBRAPA (Brazilian Agricultural Research Corporation) July 2007 – September 2007 (3 months) Based in Fortaleza, Brazil. Conducted research on the viability of fair trade certification for subsistence level cashew producers and small-scale processing facilities in rural areas of the Northeastern state of Ceará. Developed survey tool, carried out interviews and site visits in communities, consulted with institutions in the fair trade field and prepared report to inform the future work of Embrapa senior staff. Research has subsequently been published in the journal of the Banco do Nordeste, Revista Econômica do Nordeste (REN Volume 41 - No. 4, December 2010), in the co-authored article 'Competitividade de Cadeias Produtivas Através de uma Lente Comparativa: Oportunidades para a Cajucultura Brasileira.' November 2006 – May 2007 (7 months) Served on a team of graduate student consultants to carry out fieldwork and research for a benchmarking study of the global cashew industry to inform a USAID-sponsored project on Micro and Small Enterprise Trade-Led Growth in Brazil. Extensive literature review and desk research analyzed the competitiveness of Brazil’s cashew value chain vis-à-vis other major producing countries, India, Mozambique and Vietnam. Organized and conducted interviews and focus groups with a range of stakeholders including government officials, support organizations, exporting firms and producers in Mumbai and Kerala, India.
