PV Solar ... metrics ... a prosperous sustainable society

Dear Eli

As I get older, I seem to be in more and more of a hurry ... and despite the mainstream news flow, I am convinced that the future can be amazing if only we do the right things ... and we cannot, nor should we, wait for politicians in Washington or Whitehall to do things for us.

I have a friendly builder based in the Poconos of PA who wants to do PV solar in New York (State) and New Jersey. He has done a number of medium sized commercial projects successfully and can do a lot more if he gets the work. He has been something of an 'energy' buff since a long time before it was fashionable, and believes in a lot of the old fashioned concepts of value for money. His company rebuilt my house after I had a total loss fire ... the fire was not so good ... the rebuilding has been excellent.

My efforts to design and deploy TrueValueMetrics is progressing ... not as fast as I would like, but maybe better than I expected. I strongly believe that if we measure what matters, we will make the decisions that matter. I am trying to find a network of people who feel strongly about what is important in society, and how best these issues can be quantified ... rather like the way money has become the way wealth gets quantified!

A prosperous sustainable society is not what we have today ... for some there is huge money wealth ... for most there are low wages, unemployment, poverty, etc which is appalling in a world where potential for productivity is amazing and where human resources are idle in places where there are needs to be satisfied. More meaningful metrics can help ... but I argue that there also need to be changes in the way society is organized (with focus on community) and the way the money infrastructure works. This leads to complementary currency, an idea whose time has come ... and already in operation in a surprisingly large number of places around the world.

I have no idea how much you are already in these places ... but I thought it sensible to try to find out.

With best regards
