Michael E. Porter Founder, Board Member, Senior Advisor, Foundation Strategy Group (FSG) Michael Porter co-founded FSG with Mark Kramer. Currently the Bishop William Lawrence University Professor at the Harvard Business School and a leading international authority on strategy, Professor Porter has authored 16 books and over 75 articles on strategy and competition. He has served as a counselor on strategy to the governments of many nations, to leading international corporations, and to nonprofit community organizations. Professor Porter leads the Harvard Business School Institute for Strategy and Competitiveness. His research on economic development in America's inner cities led to the founding of The Initiative for a Competitive Inner City, a nonprofit initiative to catalyze inner-city business development, where he serves as Chairman and CEO. With Mark Kramer, he co-founded both Foundation Strategy Group and The Center for Effective Philanthropy and co-authored the Harvard Business Review articles, 'Philanthropy's New Agenda: Creating Value' and 'Strategy & Society: The Link Between Competitive Advantage and Corporate Social Responsibility.' Professor Porter holds a Ph.D. and an M.B.A. from Harvard University and a B.S.E. from Princeton University. He has received over 30 awards and honorary degrees, and was voted the most influential strategic thinker today by the Strategic Management Society. |
