Mr. Heintz has worked on policy and management of natural and environmental resources for over thirty years. He has held positions in the Office of Policy Analysis at the US Department of the Interior, the Federal Interagency Working Group on Sustainable Development Indicators, the Design Committee for the H. John Heinz III Center's report on the State of the Nation's Ecosystems, and the White House Council on Environmental Quality. Since retiring from the Federal government in 2008, Mr. Heintz has taught at Oglethorpe University and served as a consultant to the US House of Representatives Appropriations Committee. He previously served as Co-Chair of the Common Cause Georgia Advisory Council.
