Ideas ... Self Organizing Systems
Key to a stable society

Many systems have an inherent capacity to get out of control ... society needs self organizing systems to provide stability

COMMENTARY
There is a disconnect between the idea that 'I don't want the government in my life' and the demand 'for the government to do something'.

A bottom up self organizing system may well be more effective than a government or corporate top down authoritarian system ... but what exactly would such a system look like.

In my view a self organizing system can emerge if the right metrics are used ... and it is clear to me that the money profit metric is totally inadequate. A better metric must include measures of how effective economic activity is in delivering social good as well as simply money profit.

I have been concerned about the limits of money profit as a metric of performance in economic activities for a very long time, but it is only relatively recently that I started to appreciate that the way in which the monetary economy can be 'gamed' in many different ways for the benefit of relatively few and at the expense of almost everyone on the planet.

In general, what this means is that the power of big multinational banks and corporations is now unconstrained by anything ... and rarely by any national laws. This is a dangerous situation.
