Quality of life ... or wellbeing ... is a composite of many components. This makes it very difficult to describe in a single unit of measure. Such a metric becomes maybe the most important metric to decribe the state of the world and progress. There is not wide consensus about how such a metric should be constructed, but there are a lot of good ideas that are in play.
One of these is the Canadian Index of Wellbeing which is based on 8 main areas of wellbeing, with 8 sections within each area ... a total of 64 elements of interest.
This has many of the characteristics that are incorporated into the TrueValueMetrics management metrics.
A Sufficiency of Financial Wealth
A modest amount of financial wealth is far better than a chronic insuffiency of financial resources. There is a vast difference in stress between having enough money for immediate needs and not having enough. The difference may be quite small, but the impact on stress and wellbeing is huge.
