Interaction between NORTH and SOUTH
Since independence, most countries have received the bulk of international assistance through their government. Organizations like the World Bank, the United Nations and bilateral aid agencies are all part of a system that is dominated by government and a range of public sector institutions.

A Better Interaction between NORTH and SOUTH
A better way to flow development assistance is through the private sector

But there are problems
A better way to get development assistance should be through the private sector ... but this is rarely the case.
The primary purpose and goal of the private sector is profit, and while profit may be compatible with social and environmental progress in some cases, in the majority of situations profit comes at the expense of the broader society and the environment.
During the past fifty years since the 1970s, the private sector has extracted massive amounts of value from society and the environment building a huge amount of financial wealth in the process. Much of this incremental wealth has become concentrated in relatively few hands to the detriment of everyone else.
