As Predicted, Kevin McCarthy Has Lost Control ... The House goes kaboom
Anyone watching could see it coming, yet now that it is here it is far worse than anyone could have imagined. Kevin McCarthy, Republican Speaker of the House, gave up every concession he was asked for, no matter how looney or outright dangerous. To get a title.
And now, they are all lined up for their goodies. Let’s start with the bad one. McCarthy will allow the government of the United States to enter the equivalent of bankruptcy. He is using the debt ceiling as a bargaining point for stupid Republican talking points. If the Dems call his bluff and refuse, the US ability to borrow from global markets is destroyed.
We become the economic version of a third world country. Way to go Kevin, you showed us.
Or, how about the stupid stuff? Like allowing a bill to go to the floor to eliminate income tax and the IRS and replace them with a 30% sales tax, to be collected by the states.
The GOP screamed about 8% inflation last year and now they want to increase the cost of everything by 30%? Uh-huh. Of course, this piece of stupidity is going nowhere. McCathy just promised some moron House Member he could bring up his kooky bill, knowing it was an utter waste of time.
And now we have a bunch of new Committee members and Committee Chairs drawn from the ranks of the extreme MAGA branch of the GOP. One great example is a congressman assigned to investigate the Biden family, who is himself under investigation for participating in the January Sixth 2021 attempt to overthrow the government and throw out the constitution.
There is enough evidence against him, that his phone was seized by the Department of Justice. Kevin is letting the foxes into the hen house, just because he can.
This morning I made a laundry list of McCarthy’s concessions and it was frighteningly stupid. The role of Speaker is to be a consummate negotiator, able to strike deals and pass legislation across the aisles. A person who gives up everything is not a negotiator, they are a patsy.
Patsy is Kevin’s middle name and his colleagues know it. I’ve said it many times, McCarthy is stupid and only acts in his own self-interest. And he is holding all of us hostage to his stubborn stupidity.
By the way, this is all our fault.
We kept quiet as destructive ideas and destructive people joined the mainstream, we let a moron become one of the most powerful people in DC, and we were quiet as we watched the extremists begin the process of destroying the federal government.
It’s not too late to stop this. We have to speak up, we have to get pissed, we have to tell these people we won’t tolerate this irresponsible behavior. We pay these guys. A liar like Santos gets elected and he is on our payroll forever, even if they find a way to boot him, which they are not even trying to do.
I’m not sure why I am bothering to write about this stuff. Maybe the average American doesn’t care about what is happening in the House. Maybe it’s ok to have our elected government be a sideshow in the American circus, that weird freak show over there in the shabby tent.
After all, freaks have to make a living too, right? Why not just let them run the most powerful country on the planet into the ground, just because they can?
Have I gone off the deep end? I have not. This is serious shit, people. These people want to destroy everything this great country represents because of anger, vengeance, petty spite, racism, antisemitism, religious bigotry, misogyny, greed, and desire for power.
All this is happening because we elected incompetent, stupid people like Kevin McCarthy and gave them unbridled power.
This makes me sick, and it should make you sick too, no matter what side of the political fence you sit on.
