Next Gen investors are very sensitive about the social and environmental effects of their investments and highly value sustainable strategies with a positive impact on the world. ESG Data Standardization - How important is it to develop sustainable finance further?
October 05, 2020, 07:15 AM - 08:15 AM EDT(-04:00)
Beris Gwynne, Dr. Phillip Aeby, Sonia Fasolo
Investors, shareholders and executives alike are not interested anymore in maximising profit alone; instead, they are increasingly adopting management and financial strategies with a positive impact on the community and the environment. Many different measurement methods have been created in order to measure such effects: however, they lack uniformity and can significantly vary from one another.
During this session speakers will discuss how the impact investing sector can benefit from a standardisation in ESG benchmarks and why the fragmentation of sustainability measurements is hindering the development of sustainable finance.

With global warming looming over an exponentially growing population, the world resources are under unprecedented pressure and challenges. The need for clean and drinkable water is higher than ever, while rivers and oceans are being filled with dangerous chemicals and materials. As climate change will only increase over time, both developed and developing countries will have to develop strategies and habits that make the most efficient use of water while reducing the current pollution levels in water sources. Integrating Climate Risks into Portfolio Strategy
October 06, 2020, 04:00 AM - 05:00 AM EDT(-04:00)
Rashila Kerai, Mike Azlen, Paloma Baena
Climate risk is an ever increasing issue not only for society and the environment, but also for the financial industry: countless industries will be affected over time, while some have already started to feel the effects now. Asset allocators should therefore account for the negative impact of climate change on their portfolio structure by integrating the entailing risk into their investment model, ultimately hedging against environmental factors like desertification and rising sea levels.
In this session, financial and environmental experts will discuss the importance of climate risk and how to improve mainstream portfolio strategies by integrating it in investment decision making.

Maria Lombardo
Investors and asset owners have recognised the importance and urgency of mitigating climate change and are increasingly looking at abating their investments’ environmental impact through the reduction of their portfolio’s carbon footprint. Indeed, many difficulties will arise when integrating environmental sustainability factors into a profit-driven investment model.
During this workshop financial and investment specialists will discuss different capital deployment structures which ultimately yield zero carbon emissions and what are the challenges asset allocators face when incorporating environmental standards in their investment strategies.

Innovation in Agriculture
October 06, 2020, 07:30 AM - 08:30 AM EDT(-04:00)
Martin Stadelmann, Matthew McGarvey, Kim Neel Wyon
This workshop is aimed at introducing and illustrating the latest and most important discoveries and project in the agricultural sector and why these innovations are increasingly necessary for the world’s development. In fact, the world population is booming at an unprecedented rate and the nutrition standards across the world have substantially increased, meaning much more food needs to be produced to satisfy the ever increasing demand. However, water and land resources are finite and climate change only hinders the growth in food production. In order to appropriately feed an increasing urban and demanding population, agricultural producers have to employ the latest technology and methods in order to maximise their output: however, they also have to use techniques which reduce substantially water and land use, while abating their operations’ overall carbon footprint. In this panel, experts will identify these challenges and contextualise them in the current farming scientific and busi
