The Rise of Urban Farming: Opportunities for Sustainable Local Production
JANUARY 22, 2020 | 5:30PM–8:30PM Anchin, Block & Anchin LLP 1375 Broadway New York NY 10018 United States 5:30 PM - 6:00 PM Registration and Networking 6:00 PM - 6:30 PM Introduction of Thought For Food 6:30 PM - 7:30 PM Panel Discussion 7:30 PM - 8:30 PM Light Bites and Networking The need for urban agriculture is expanding on a global scale as more and more people inhabit our cities. This is especially true in the New York City area, one of the fastest growing startup cities in the world. Despite a spur of recent initiatives within the food industry, the city continues to struggle to sustain a large food insecure population. Join us for an engaging discussion and an opportunity to learn how urban agriculture can be used to tackle food production sustainably for our inner cities. Some of the topics we will cover include initiatives that can help reduce food miles, increase the availability of fresh and organic produce, how we can work with less land and water while increasing overall production, and more. Our featured panel of founders and leading experts will speak to the companies they're working on, the challenges they're facing, and the areas of opportunity within the space. Our event partners from Thought For Food will share about how to be more involved in the space with the audience's ideas, and promote entrepreneurship and engagement from youth with the Challenge, where startups compete for funding for their companies.
