How Can a Smart City Become a Smart Destination?
Smart Cities are fitted with hundreds and thousands of sensors measuring everything from road traffic to power usage, giving administrators vast amounts of data to help them plan and manage their cities. But what about the human side of Smart City tech? How does the average resident or visitor benefit from Smart City technology? Can real time data insight be provided to the average person so that they can take action? What about the small businesses and merchants? How can a Smart City drive economic development for everyone so that even small businesses can take advantage of these ladders of opportunity?
The Presentation
Loud-Hailer is a technology company that is building scalable Bluetooth mesh networks in different cities in the US and India. Their BUKI network is an integrated solution providing hyperlocal services and engagement for large venues such as convention centers, stadiums and arenas. Users of the BUKI network can receive hyperlocal information relevant to where they are (at a 250 foot radius) as they make their way around a city. Examples of these hyperlocal services include 3D indoor wayfinding, remember your parking spot, in seat ordering / order ahead, hyperlocal discovery, and proximity engagement. An intriguing aspect of the BUKI network is its public and private nature. Not just convention centers and stadiums but restaurants and shops that cater to those visitors can also join the BUKI network simply by hosting BUKI engagement points. This allows the small businesses to broadcast hyperlocal offers, capture footfall data and join the network effect. All for a fraction of the cost of building and promoting their own apps.
