Sustainability initiatives

PRé partners with several organizations whose mission and goal is to foster a more transparent and responsible business community for a sustainable future.

Global initiatives

Sustainability Consortium: PRé is TIER 1 member of The Sustainability Consortium. This initiative drives scientific research and the development of standards and IT tools, through a collaborative process, to enhance the ability to understand and address the environmental, social, and economic implications of products. We are participating in several working groups: measurement science, IT standards & tools, food, beverage & agriculture, home & personal care, electronics, and consumer science.

UNEP-SETAC Life CycleInitiative: PRé is a gold sponsor of the Life Cycle Initiative which aims to disseminate life cycle thinking worldwide by enhancing global consensus, supporting research, and investing in capacity building in developing countries.

PRé is member of the advisory groups for the Joint Research Centre of the European Commission. The European Platform on LCA from JRC aims to contribute to the availability of LCA knowledge and the interoperability of activities among private and public stakeholders. The JRC has therefore established formal agreements with the organisations involved to help guide and facilitate its Life Cycle Management activities. Additionally, the JRC asked PRé to help develop a robust database; describing environmental emissions and extractions in the EU between 1990 and 2010.

GEDnet: The Global Environmental Declarations Network (GEDnet) is an international non-profit. The purpose of GEDnet is to foster co-operation and encourage information exchange among its members and other parties operating or developing type III environmental declaration programs, and to discuss key issues in developing such programs  PRé is an associate member.

Sustainable Purchasing Council: PRé is a member of the Sustainable Purchasing Council. The counsil brings together visionary professionals from institutions, suppliers, government, standards bodies and NGOs to simplify, optimize and standardize the practice of sustainable procurement. Purpose of the council is to drive social, environmental, and economic sustainability.

Global Reporting Initiative (GRI): PRé is an organizational stakeholder of the Global Reporting Initiative. GRI is a leading organization in the sustainability field and promotes the use of sustainability reporting as a way for organizations to become more sustainable and contribute to sustainable development.

ISEAL Alliance: The ISEAL Alliance works to strengthen sustainability standards systems for the benefit of people and the environment. PRé is ISEAL subscriber and together with other organizations and individuals, we are committed to scaling up the impacts of sustainability standards.
