RE: recruiting for board

I always try to put your name forward when I think someone is ready to listen. You are a voice crying in the wilderness and I'd like nothing better than to see you be accepted in your own time and country. are a voice crying in the wilderness and I'd like nothing better than to see you be accepted in your own time and country.

As for my initiative, my main efforts are along the lines advocated by Paul Polak, for-profit ventures aimed at materially improving the well-being of people in extreme poverty. I tried suggesting to him that your ideas would be just what he needs to define success in his over-arching plan but he wasn't ready to hear it.

I need a non-profit entity to act as a holding company -- so that I can accept donations toward setting up the enterprise and so that the intellectual property can be owned by something that will survive if the business fails.

Question for my advisors: is that a good enough reason to go ahead and set up a new non-profit entity? Or am I overcomplicating things?

I've got big plans for what it might become in the future but right now that's all it is. On the other hand, the costs are fairly trivial, it's mainly a distraction if it's not a necessity.

Alternatives to setting one up are basically either to find a suitable foundation to provide the same framework (and maybe some grant money) or go straight to commercial venture capital. I've got (barely) enough money to get through a basic field test but I've also got friends ready to make substantial donations so it's not purely academic.

Stephen ... I am happy to help, though I am not sure whether I would bring to the party any of the strengths that you might really need.

Some friends in New Jersey have seen fit to make me a 'Trustee' of their not-for-profit. The 'workload' is tiny, though I sometimes worry that I probably am responsible for a lot more than I want to acknowledge!

In any event, If I can help, let me know.

Meanwhile, I am pushing ahead as hard as I can with my MDIA (Multi Dimension Impact Accounting) initiative. Whether I will be able to launch properly is still an open question, but I am cautiously optimistic.

All the best

Peter

I need to set up an initial board of directors for the non-profit that will act as a holding company for my humanitarian ventures. I need a working board, though there will not be very much work after setting it up until successes start to accumulate. Is there perhaps someone you would nominate, if you don't want to take a seat? Obviously there's a lot more to explain, just probing for interest here. - See less
