This position at Arcosanti placed me as a trainer of college students in construction techniques as part of a project that sought to educate students and provide a unique experience and perspective in their educational career. I along with other team members was responsible for both explaining the various stages of heavy concrete construction and other skills relevant to the building of Arcosanti, as part of the educational experience offered to students. It was experiential - learning by doing - and so students learned how to adapt and find solutions on the fly while working in the field. This included the discussion of project management and the reading of plans so as to give the students (who were often but not always architects, designers and sometimes engineers) a window of how people in the field have to understand what is coming out of the office. In addition to the use of various power and hand tools on a daily basis, heavy machinery was often used including regular operation of a 100 foot 20 ton L&H Crane, Concrete mixer and less frequently a Bobcat Skidster and Backhoe. Sustainability Strategist Empowerment Works February 2007 – June 2009 (2 years 5 months) - Consulting on strategic planning; - Consulting on organizational development; - Consulting on sustainable development; - Event & strategy planning for upcoming event called The Global Summit; - Assisted in set up of Newsletter for EW called Inspired Citizen.
