Thought this might possibly interest you as a quick heads-up: Not quite sure about the LI morality on this but since you have indicated an interest in following our work, here is a brief.
Starting today we have launched our 2013 work plan and an outreach support effort intended to back World Streets for the year ahead. You can find the whole story at http://worldstreets.org. It would be good to have your comments and suggestions on any part of it
There is plenty of room of collaboration and exchange so if any of this gives you an idea it would be great to hear from you. . And if it looks useful enough, perhaps you might pass this message on.
As you will see, we have quite a challenge on our hands. Light a candle. /Eric Britton
Dear Eric
Thank you for getting in touch and giving me a heads-up.
I certainly like what you are doing ... and it seems, have been doing for quite a long time with Eco-Plan, way before environment became 'fashionable'.
I went from engineering to economics to accountancy .... from student to corporate business to international development to ... ???.
What I want is for initiatives like Eco-Plan, World Streets, etc to be 'accounting' and 'reporting' not only in terms of money profit, but also the impact on people, and place. For place one can also say community, or nation or planet.
I want to see easy but quite rigorous value accounting around ALL economic and social activity ... which rolls up to show the performance of an organization, and rolls up to show the performance of a place.
Now we have amazing technology what I am describing can be done relatively easily ... certainly compared to 50 years ago! A huge amount of work is going on getting data, but I argue most of the data is to support and justify economic activity that is not the best for society.
Hopefully this can be the start of some modest cooperation. What might I be able to do to help?
