COMMENTARY However, in my view, they are absolutely wrong in trying to apply this idea to the Occupy protest. There is a huge amount of reliable economic data that show that the infamous 1% have increased their proportion of the wealth very micely over the past 30 years, while the balance of the people have made relativley little socio-economic progress.
There are many examples of 'freeloaders' in modern US society ... but the majority do not have this characteristic. The simple fact is that the profile of the US economy has changed over the past three decades, and it is now much more difficult to find a reasonably well paid job in the 'blue collar' manufacturing sector.

Origins of Occupy Wall Street The current Wall Street Protest was inspired by Little League Soccer. At one point in history, only the winning team received a trophy. Then, in the 1990's, everyone who played the game got a trophy. Occupy Wall Street wants trophies for all.
