Opponents of Ellen Johnson Sirleaf say the award gives her an unfair advantage in her bid for re-election.
The Nobel Committee has awarded the 2011 Peace Prize to three women, including Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, the president of Liberia. While many have celebrated the decision, opposition leaders in the country slammed the committee. They say the award gives Sirleaf an unfair boost just three days before she seeks re-election.
