Myanmar |
It is almost 30 years since I did a consultancy assignment in Burma (Now Myanmar). This story shows some change for the better, but really very little, and it is to be expected that remote areas will still have deep poverty. The internal civil war is not talked about very much, but I understand it is ongoing. The Government authorities have been able to beg and borrow financial support for some projects ... but there is little or no trickle down to ordinary people. It is a fascinating country oppressed by a terrible regime. |
