PEOPLE / QUALITY OF LIFE
ENVIRONMENT
A healthy environment ... social, natural and economic ... is good for health and wellness

Jobs
Jobs need to exist and be suited to the population. Every household should be able to earn enough to support a decent quality of life.
Housing
Housing needs to be 'decent', affordable and available for everone. For severl decades, most housing has been built to profit builders and the wealthy which has created a massive ... but profitable ... inbalance in the real estate industry.
Accessible Transport
The relatively modern journey from walking to horseback to cars and trains and ships and planes has been amazing ... and foundational to almost everything in the modern world.
Accessible Health Services
Expectation of life has increased enormously during the past 200 years ... 2 times almost everywhere and in some countries 3 times!
Accessible Education
More people have basic education now than at any time in history ... and advanced education has also expanded substantially.
Accessible Child Support Services
Some countries have good child support programs. Too many are failing in this domain.
Accessible Senior Support Services
Some countries have good elder-care. Too many do not.

Air Quality
Without air, people cannot live, but with bad air people live, but for a shorter time. Too many places still have polluted air from industry and vehicles.
Water Quality
There is a global shortage of clean potable water. This is one of the reasons for large scale population migration.
Ground Contamination
During the industrial revolution there was massive ground contamination. Much has been cleaned but many sites remain polluted with no action in progress.

Employment / Job Opportunities
Personal economic progress is possible when there are good paying job opportunities
Labor pool / Job Opportunities
When there is available labor, business has the opportunity to grow. Matching available skills with the needs of business organizations is a challenge to be addressed.
Enabling Environment
There are many factors that go into an enabling environment including the idea of 'free enterprise'. However, care must be taken that 'free enterprise' precludes the large scale frequently required for success with modern technology.
Economic Goals
A singular goal of 'corporate profit maximisation' will usually have many adverse social and environmental impacts. Accordingly a healthy economy must have a good balance between social, environmental and economic aspects of business activity.
Stock Markets
Since around 1980, stock markets have been used mainly in support of investors. This has been good for investors, but the general public has not shared much in the very substantial improvement in business productivity (enabled by investment) that has been achieved in the last 40 years!
