Peter Burgess COMMENTARY
The 'Iranian hostage crisis' happened in 1979 during the Carter presidency. Since then the Iranian theocracy ... Shia ... has been influential in the Middle East and at odds Saudi Arabia ... Sunni. Oil wealth has been an important driver of Middle East social and economic progress, but this progress is dangerously fragile.

This video sets out the many complexities that must be handled in order to avoid serious clashes that could easily get out of hand.

I do not see a peaceful resolution of the problems without a major change in international mindset and a very different approach to international cooperation. Sadly, this does not seem to be the direction the influential policy makers are going in at the moment.

Not good!
