THIS is why we’ve been consistently publishing a repository of White House Coronavirus Task Force reports:
The White House is still restricting access to these reports, even though COVID-19 death rates have shot up so much that the latest reports added a new color to its maps — ‘darkest red.’
One red state is Florida. After our latest publication of White House reports, two local papers sued Governor Ron DeSantis to make these reports public. We can see why: The reports—which he has for months refused to release — urge stronger measures around mask-wearing and indoor dining that DeSantis has either ignored or dismissed.
One of the papers, the Sun Sentinel, has also reported an unusual pattern in how Florida reported COVID-19 deaths ahead of the presidential election, suggesting DeSantis’s administration may have manipulated numbers for political reasons.
We’re proud to empower local news outlets so they can serve their communities. Since the outbreak, our reports have been generously shared with media all across America, in multiple mediums, in multiple languages.
But unlike many of those news outlets, we don’t have paywalls. We don’t take ads.
