RSVP is required to receive Zoom invitation details. THURSDAY, OCTOBER 29 AT 12:30 PM - 2:00 PM About the Program: Nearly fourteen years ago, Baruch College’s Robert Zicklin Center for Corporate Integrity hosted “Avian Flu: Ethical, Financial and Management Implications for Business”. The half-day event explored the business community’s role in an effective response to an influenza pandemic. Presenters discussed topics including: How should government balance the demands of public safety and business continuity? Who defines “essential” workers and to what degree can businesses protect them or be held liable for their exposure? Who gets scarce medical resources? What would public health officials expect employers to do to keep their employees safe? Should business monitor workers and prevent those with certain symptoms, such as elevated temperature, from coming to work? How can businesses reduce opportunities for human to human transition? Fast forward 14 years and we can see countless parallels between the issues raised in a hypothetical influenza outbreak and those we are living through now with the COVID-19 pandemic. Join us on October 29th as we welcome back key voices from our 2006 conference to hear their thoughts on: Did today’s decision makers heed the advice of our 2006 experts? What did we get right and wrong back in 2006? Have we overreacted or underreacted to COVID-19? What can we do to get past the current pandemic and be better prepared to address the next one? Moderated by David Rosenberg, Associate Professor of Law, Baruch College and Director, Robert Zicklin Center for Corporate Integrity
