The global pandemic does not discriminate. ... Are we ready to be inclusive?

Burgess COMMENTARY

Peter Burgess
The global pandemic does not discriminate. Are we ready to be inclusive?

Women make up 70% of the global health workforce - and once again form the frontlines of impact, and the backbone of our community's health. Are we prepared to stand for their health and build the kind of resilience that will outlast the coronavirus era?

This #WorldHealthDay, it's time to get with the program. Inclusivity, gender equality, and our obligations toward one another are the conditions for future growth.

It's up to us to adapt, measure, value and give a voice to half of the world who are in the frontlines of COVID-19. If you care about her, then measure and value the healthcare she is receiving.

This #WorldHealthDay, get with the program! IIX calls on all healthcare organizations to measure and value the healthcare that women are receiving, and bring them to the center of COVID resilience.

MEASURE HER HEALTH IMPACT

A LITTLE GOOD NEWS: Building resilience in Philadelphia and beyond

Even before COVID-19 exacerbated inequalities for women of color in the US, they were already 4 times more likely to die during childbirth than white women. In communities where our partner Maternity Care Coalition (MCC) work, more than 455 high-risk women are empowered to take their health into their own hands. Using IIX's Women's Health Impact Assessment toolkit, MCC can now demonstrate to funders that better access to quality, affordable, and patient-centered healthcare is leading to stronger communities in Philadelphia and beyond.

IIX Women's Health Impact Assessment

COVID-19 does not discriminate, calling on the world to invest in inclusive, resilient communities for everyone's benefit. But how do you ensure that dollars are being invested in programs and organizations that are truly creating deep impact and long-term resilience?

Supported by the Medtronic Foundation, the Women’s Health Impact Assessment toolkit is defying the status quo, giving organizations the tools to measure, monitor and magnify their healthcare impact - especially for the underserved.
