I think we found our 2020 candidate.

Just watch this: SEE YOUTUNE BELOW

I hope this speech inspired you. It did me.

This is what it means to be progressive.

It takes A LOT strength to stand up for others. Cowards are those who give into fear and paranoia—the very definition of the rightwing Trump supporter.

Right now, it’s the thousands of liberals in this country who are standing up against bigotry and hatred: in our schools, on the streets, and against our own government at Standing Rock. It’s the millions of liberals who will be expected to protect our country from the coming onslaught against our freedoms and values from the Trump administration.

If there is any perception that liberalism=weakness, (aka “bleeding heart'), that has nothing to do with our values: you can thank the many weak-kneed Democrats who supposedly represent us. It's those Democrats who refuse to fight. Those who go along to get-along.

It’s those Democrats who say they will work with Trump on economic issues while ignoring the fact that neo-Nazis are being granted government positions.

It’s those same Democrats who refuse to speak up when election shenanigans are being brought to their attention. If a Wisconsin county was caught giving Hillary over 1000 extra votes and then said 'whoops', I can name several GOP politicians who’d be screaming about it. Not our reps. Shut up and ensure a “smooth transition”.

Go fuck yourself.

North Carolina is literally going to steal the governor’s election next week despite McCrory losing by thousands of votes. Why? Because fuck you—that’s why. I’d like to hear from a few Democrats that this travesty won’t stand. Our very democracy is at stake—maybe show some passion and fight for it. How can we call you “our leaders” if you refuse to lead? Does liberty have any defenders left?

The GOP cares nothing about democracy. We need people who will fight for it. We need people willing to put everything on the line to defend our most vulnerable citizens. We need to fight tooth and nail for free, fair elections. We need more people like de Blasio to stand up and say, “No. We will no accept. We will not comply.” Every Democrat should be throwing down the gauntlet. That is how you handle Trump. That is what it means to be progressive.

The exact speech de Blasio gave, word for word, should be given by every damn Democratic mayor and governor in our great nation.

We are in for a 4-year nightmare, but it will end. As the Millennials grow up, as we continue to become more diverse and more tolerant, and as the horrors of Trump become more realized, this nation will only grow more and more liberal. The hatred and bigotry of the GOP will one day be viewed as shamefully as the Third Reich is today (by most Americans, anyway). When that happens, we’ll remember those who fought for us and fought for our values long after this national nightmare is over.

More importantly, we’ll remember those who didn’t.

0:00my job as mayor is to be their voice and 0:05to give him perspective on what New 0:07Yorkers are feeling right now what their 0:10concerns are what their fears are I 0:15thought it was very important 0:16particularly as the president-elect 0:18begins his transition for him to hear 0:23the voices of the people and to get some 0:27perspective from outside the transition 0:30bubble understand what's being said in 0:33the streets and subways of our city and 0:35why people are so deeply concerned I 0:41raise the number of substantive issues 0:43want to give you a sense of what they 0:46were i will say at the outset I'm not 0:48going to characterize his positions or 0:50responses but i will give you a sense of 0:52what we talked about first of all we 0:54talked about regulation of wall street i 0:57raised my concerns about any repeal of 1:00the dodd-frank bill and what it would do 1:02in terms of furthering the economic 1:05security of New Yorkers and of millions 1:07and millions of Americans and the deep 1:10concern that we would go backwards and 1:13that our economy will be in peril again 1:15and we would run the risk of another 1:17crash I talk to about the proposal for 1:21tax cuts 1:22for the wealthy and for corporations I 1:26raised my concern that this would make 1:28impossible 1:30many of the changes that we need in our 1:32country particularly the investments we 1:35so desperately needed infrastructure 1:36here in New York City and in cities and 1:39counties all over the country 1:42I talk to about concerns about proposed 1:45deportations I gave him the perspective 1:49of the NYPD that any initiative that 1:54would create a rift between our police 1:57all over the country and the communities 1:58they serve that would make it impossible 2:00for police and community to communicate 2:03that would sow distrust between law 2:07enforcement and neighborhoods would be 2:10counterproductive beyond that that that 2:16proposal countered and flew in the face 2:20of all that was great about New York 2:22City the ultimate city of immigrants 2:24places succeeded because it was open for 2:27everyone place built a generation after 2:31generation of immigrants and I 2:34reiterated to him at this city and so 2:37many cities around the country will do 2:40all we can to protect our residents and 2:42to make sure that families are not torn 2:44apart talk to about police-community 2:48relations in general and specifically 2:51the question of stop-and-frisk i try to 2:55provide perspective on how 2:56stop-and-frisk created a a wedge between 2:59police and community when it was used in 3:01a unconstitutional manner it was 3:04overused and how since we change that 3:07policy the city have gotten safer that 3:10we we knew we were never going back to 3:13that policy that we were going to 3:15continue on a path of neighbourhood 3:16policing and building a bond between 3:18police and community 3:21I talk to about our Muslim community I 3:26let him know something that so many 3:28people don't know that there are 900 3:29Muslim members of the NYPD protecting 3:34all of us protecting every community 3:36every kind of person I told him that we 3:42were very concerned that we had to show 3:45all New Yorkers including Muslim New 3:47Yorkers that they were welcomed and that 3:50exclusionary policies would undermine 3:53our ability to create unity exclusionary 3:56policies would undermine our ability to 3:58create a dynamic where everyone felt a 4:02part of this community equally ready to 4:05work to protect each other ready to work 4:07with law enforcement for the good of all 4:09I also raised concerns about some of the 4:14messages and some of the rhetoric that 4:17for so many people have been hurtful and 4:23I'll um know that so many new yorkers 4:24were fearful and more had to be done to 4:30show that this country can heal that 4:34people be respected 4:39I left the meeting with the door open 4:42for more dialogue it's well-known we 4:45have very very substantial differences 4:47in beliefs and ideology by the end of 4:52meeting we agree that this is a 4:53conversation will continue i reiterate 4:58to the president-elect that I would be 4:59open-minded as we continue substantive 5:02discussions but I would also be vigilant 5:04and I would be swift to react 5:08anytime and action is taken that 5:10undermine the people in new york city i 5:15also know that New Yorkers will stand 5:18together we're going to stand up for the 5:21needs of working people are going to 5:22stand up for our immigrant brothers and 5:25sisters were gonna stand up for anyone 5:27who have any policy is excluded or 5:30fronted they members of the Muslim 5:35community of Jewish community members of 5:37the LGBT community women anyone who 5:41feels policies are being undertaken that 5:47undermine them 5:51with that happy to take your questions Published on Nov 16, 2016 ◙ { Thanks for stopping by my
