Peter:

Dan Aronson, an economics prof from Raritan Valley Community College, has an accounting question or two.

Could you give it a shot? His number is 908-526-1200 x8238.

See this series that Dan is writing: http://www.raritanval.edu/fac/bps/ft/aronson/articles.html.

Dan: See Peter's website: http://www.truevaluemetrics.org/

Peter/Dan: I have witnessed you both heavily criticizing your own professions. Quite rare.

Hope you find mutual interests.

Matt

Dear Matt, Dan

Me? Criticize? I think the accounting profession is perhaps the best profession in the world. But then the bar has been lowered to non-existent by all the other so-called professions!

I would be happy to have a conversation ... I will be relatively accessible today and Thursday ,,, but not Wednesday or Friday

Peter

Thanks for e-mailing. I just printed out your Intro to MDIA. While I obviously didn't read much in the last few seconds, it seems to emphasize externalities -- but of course I'll read it more in depth.

I have zero background in accounting, but taking an initial look at your material makes me want to pursue a sustainable MBA.

Thanks again,

You mentioned the compelling need to change the built environment -- and added that there wasn't much of a profit to be made in doing that. In fact, there's a strong and growing demand for real estate near transit. Reducing subsidies for driving, which would free up parking lots (near transit) for development, would enable builders to make lots of money meeting that demand for real estate near transit. Matt, are you too busy to be included on these e-mails?
